Well, worst nightmare has come true. Got my new 150 to basement and someone dropped it on a corner. Heres the dmg. Glass is 1/2 think and it has dmg to both sides around the silicone (one chip had a piece of silicone stuck to it. And it took off the smaller sliver about the size of a quarted. Am i ruined? Opinions? Suggestion?

dont be disheartened. There are lot more challenges over the horizon. this is just the beginning of the hobby. It is a costly and non forgiving hobby. Fulfill what you started and enjoy the hobby.

No one looking at those pictures can be certain it won’t get worse. One thing is for sure though. If the tank ruptures with 150 gallons of salt water in it, there would be even more damage to your home and the possible loss of expensive fish and corals. I wouldn’t risk it. Sorry that happened to you.

So sorry, that’s terrible :( Doesn’t look that bad but I wouldn’t trust it myself.. the tank is only a small fraction of what your going to spend setting up a reef so from a cost perspective it’s not that bad. Maybe you can sell it to someone to use as a reptile enclosure and recoup some of your money.

Looks “damaged in shipping” to me...... If it was all covered and unseen, or Shipped etc.... hmmmm

If it were me. Cheap me..... I would find a person to 3d print large corner covers/ bottom base. Remove the entire plasic that is there and sink the entire tank into a new molded base and silicone it all on, and throw molded (so preasure is dispersed) corners on the inside as well, and silicone them in.

That kind of thinking is very fraudulent and only makes this hobby more expensive for everyone going about things the right way. If it can be covered under an insurance policy then good but trying to say it was damaged when it arrived is deceptive and unnecessary.
