If it were me, I would repair it. If there aren’t any cracks through the glass panels, and no fizzures through the silicone, I wouldn’t sweat it.
Patch it as described in earlier posts, fill it with water outside, and see what happens.

I don't think he wants to attempt to move it out of the basement. I would give is a try where it is albeit VERY SLOWLY and close to a drain.
