Cade Chaos Grimoire

Also might end up doing a mix of live/dry rock depending on cost once it's time. :thinking-face:

100% live will probably get very pricey very fast lol

I just looked at their site , lil pricey , maybe you can work out a cash and carry deal ? worth a shot... ;)
only gonna do it once, go all live, skip the dry...:)

I also have the option of looking for breakdowns in the area and snagging Rock from those to supplement once I have water in the tank.

I've never paid attention to how many pounds I've put in any of my tanks before, I just add until I'm happy :face-with-tears-of-joy:

I know there's a discount when doing pickup instead of them shipping it. I want to say it was only like 5% though

Danielle hit it rt on the head with the local breakdowns, most want to get rid of rock first anyhow... ;)
no real need to worry about most pests...:thinking-face::)

Same.

I'm planning on adding more TBS rock to my tank when I upgrade. My Eel tank that was set up with that rock has done the best with zero bad algae.

I do have a couple aiptasia maybe? And did have the more harmless flatworms but a damsel took care of the worms and I can easily pull the affected rock for the aiptasia when I feel like it.

I will buy that rock again anytime I can, definitely worth it. Love love the variety of life you get.

Yeah I figure stripey will knock out any aiptasia that comes from anything, and the wrasse will annihilate any flatworms that hike along.

No, I think I'm going to do a Tampa Bay rock pick up since they're local & easy - might do some pick ups from lfs as well if there's something specific I need shape-wise. Not sure how many #s yet, I've got time. Figure I'll need to get it wet first lol.

Sand I prefer Tropic Eden reef-flake and meso-flake combo. Out of stock in the bigger bags right now, naturally. I don't care if it's live or not, but both varieties are only in stock in 10lb quantities.
That’s the route I’d go!! Live rock all the way!

Phyto/pods come today for that restart.

I have luffa growing in my seedling cabinet that I didn't move soon enough - she's taking over and wrapping all over all the lights - oops.

Plants come today.

Yesterday I worked from home, had a bunch of phone calls with adoption groups for the new store, and got hotel meeting rooms set up for interviewing next week. Today I'm going to the old store to check for more applicants, perform more initial phone interviews, and start scheduling in person interviewing for next week.

Next week is going to be chaos.

We did luffa one year. It was a cool experiment that failed. We pulled them and hung them up but they rotted. I'm pretty sure we didn't do something right but oh well.

Same thing with Bird House gourds

Took the dog out at 430am. Came back to bed. Woke up the *minute* power went out here. Floridians really can't sleep without the fans on

I can relate. I'm in southeast Louisiana. I always thought it was not hearing the quiet hum of the aquarium pumps and fans on lights woke me up.

We've been without for an hour now, no ETA. Says "severe weather" but ummm it stormed overnight that was all.

Edit: came back on about 5 min later

Snail crew is making decent work of the sheet algae in the pico, starting to look better for sure. Unfortunately, it looks like I still have a little aiptasia in there and will need to add bergs again - I'm going to wait until they're done cleaning up the crazy algae first. I think the aiptasia got buried under it and they couldn't access the full scope of it.

Started up my phyto and pods again yesterday, as well as the bbs cultures. Fed the tank bbs this morning and all the small fish were excited about it.

Today I intend to go through with glue and putty and get all the new corals in place properly in the cube. When I unbagged the waving hand anthelia there was a loose piece that floated off, it has somehow found itself on the top of the rockwork and latched in good. Maybe hitched a ride on the urchin or something. I'm not worried, this tank is going to be overrun with softies by the time I'm happy with it.

Also plan on pulling out the lights I have for the peninsula and figuring what else I'm going to need to mount them so I can get started on planning out the lighting frame.

Hopefully sand comes back in stock soon. Looking at a calculator says about 134lbs for approx 1.5 inches deep. I plan to put down some eggcrate first where rock will be, then rock on that, then sand to fill the voids and everything else, so I'm not sure if that's accurate or if it'll be way too much or what. Any input?

Tank is 59 long and 29.5 wide

I guess if it's a little deeper than the goal of 1.5 it'll be fine, the wrasse will appreciate it. Just needs to come back in stock. Or I go with something other than Tropic Eden - but I've definitely been happier with their sand over options I've used in the past.

Maybe I hold out on ordering sand until we get the light frame built, get the tank officially in place, and start filling it up :thinking-face: I can always fill with water and rock then remove a little once I hit that point if sand doesn't arrive before fill up. Going to need some time anyway before I can transfer fish over. If what I want still isn't in stock by the time I'm ready to move fish then I'll get something else.

Anyway, time for a coffee slushi and tank glue.
