Plumb in the UV...Or return it because this looks like exactly the type of headache I'm not interested in
UVReturn what?
Yeah yeah I'm going to. I just don't have the energy to go hunting down parts right now.Plumb in the UV...
Y’all got this. If you need help, just holla.![]()
Husband got himself involved. Guess we're going to Lowe's.
I wanted a nap
We got the goods, and went to the grocery store since we were out of town last week. Not sure if I'll get around to finishing that tonight or another day though.Y’all got this. If you need help, just holla.
Homie.... Pictures....Okay. New doser set up finally. Only loaded up easy booster & easysps foods for now. Got it ready and primed for ALK & calc but not running until everything makes sense again.
Keeping the two old ones until my new phone comes in next week just to try and reconnect on the off chance it works. When it doesn't, then I'll trash them.
Did some searching and realized the roller didn't actually run out early, we must have lost power while out of town and it kicked back on before the sump leveled back out - half the roll was clean. Spent some time undoing that and rerolling it so that it works again.
Loaded the fatties up with some nori & noticed the brunneus is looking a little thin, s/he came right up for some eggs & pellets though. Hopefully just a little case of being out competed at feeding times.
Cube tank light set up to light my way while I was working on it. All plumbed sans the UV - but we got the stuff. We're both back to work tomorrow so idk when exactly I'll start on it. I'd ideally like to get it full and cycle starting before I'm out of town in Aug.
Gotta open up these boxes of rocks and see what I might want to use.
There's nothing fun to photo right now & I dosed the tank with a flocculant so everything is hazy & I can't even get decent fish photos!Homie.... Pictures....
but looks good otherwise.Bac and algae, you may be able to put on return side. Being as part of your system is hose and barbs, should be easy to plumb in that way.@Eagle_Steve & @Lost in the Sauce opinions on plumbing into return vs getting it's own pump and cutting into manifold? Keep in mind it's plan is to be used for bacterial control not parasite.

What UV is it and what return pump do you have?
Is the uv the one that hangs on the sump or the in-line one?Sicce sdc 6.0 & aqua uv 15w

If you think you may be cramped for space eventually with an additional pump, I would add it to the manifold.Bac and algae, you may be able to put on return side. Being as part of your system is hose and barbs, should be easy to plumb in that way.

I'm worried about the extra heat from adding an additional pump. I don't know what this tank is going to average running at temp wise but I know when it swaps to ponies they prefer it on the cooler side.If you think you may be cramped for space eventually with an additional pump, I would add it to the manifold.
Ok, for that guy, I would almost just do an mj1200 pulling from the drain section and then dump from the uv into the return section.Inline
So, Matt's question is can we cut from the first manifold line into to uv sterilizer, then return it into the 2nd manifold line there instead of back into a chamber so it goes back up into display? I feel like there's a reason that can't happen but my brain isn't picking it up to tell himOk, for that guy, I would almost just do an mj1200 pulling from the drain section and then dump from the uv into the return section.
Looking at it, bacteria control is about 250-300 gph.
If heat is an issue (mj1200 will add a tiny bit and I know how FL is lol), then use one of the outlets from the manifold, run it to the uv, the. Dump back at the filter sock section.
Either way will give quite a bit of water buffer, so you are not just pumping the same water through the uv.
If going with the manifold option, just need to get a beaker or measuring cup to adjust flow to be around 250-300 gph. Although, lower flow will not hurt a thing, except more tough to kill critters like ich trophents lol.
