Do i need to change my di resin?

It's very likely when you got the unit they hooked up the lines backwards before sending it out.

When they put the unit together they probably mixed up the lines in and out. On top of your DI resin unit it should be molded in the plastic in and out. Look and see if the line marked filtered with the sticker says in or out on top of the plastic.

Ok. If I can't get this figured out, I'm gonna take it to my lfs. Maybe a guy there knows how to fix it. But on this topic, say it was working right, this resin would still be good until it all changed colors right?

When the DI is hooked up in reverse, does some water bypass the resin? I don't quite get why it would matter provided the water is flowing thru the resin one way or another.

Yeah it works the same. I looked at the canister and there's an arrow pointing up

It shouldn't but possible since the pressure is pushing the unit down inside if things weren't snug it could possibly cause a leak around the gasket.

Here's the top of one of my units, the in and out. Your "filtered" line should be hooked up on out. I suspect it's backwards because it is consuming the resin in reverse of what it should. Top to bottom instead of bottom to top.

On top of the DI resin chamber there should be a gasket like this.

It could be damaged or a crack in that lid.

Water should flow from the bottom and out through the top, where the gasket is.
This is a picture of the bottom where water enters.

The only way to consume the top DI first is by it being hooked up reverse, which you ruled out. Or the gasket is missing or the lid is busted. Allowing water to bypass the DI and it only pulling some of the TDS out. Which is why you still have TDS after the resin.

It is possible the top you checked "in and out" is flawed on the inside but not very likely.

Your "in " on john guest fitting is for water supply coming in and out is to target water source. My Di chamber has a cap on top to prevent escape of any resin
