Do reef central doesnt like reef2reef or something?

Outlier here, I prefer the simple visual style of RC over the cluttered look of R2R.
But the practice of banning links is hysterical and they should be mocked forever over this. They will tell you its just one or two links... but if you experiment with it its quite a few more. Its like they reject the entire premise of HTML and insist on plain text. Bizarre. If questioned, they act like its perfectly normal or even inevitable that forums ban links.
Meanwhile, exactly zero other forums I visit on any topic ban links...
There are many times I start discussions here instead of there specifically because of this.

As one of the newest members of the Reef Squad I just want to say that they are trying to keep this site as useful and friendly as possible. I was a long time user at RC and it did bug me a bit that any mention of R2R got blocked. And I had some penalties I had to endure over there. But when several of my favorite suppliers dropped the sponsorship forums there and but stayed here, I made the move. I used to work for a company that had sponsorship forums at both sites when I was mostly at RC. Back then I felt RC had more serious users and R2R was more young people. But that changed a lot over the last 5+ years.

I was banned from there for merely pointing out a fact to a mod.
Literally all I did was link to the article to show him he was incorrect. I didn't even say it. Just a link.
They said I was harassing him and pulled the plug.
That was a long time ago. I tried it out with a different email a while back it was insane how nasty everyone was. We have people here who aren't as nice as they should be but, not like that. Those folks would eat their own young if they thought it would make them look good.

Personally I can't complain about RC just like I can't complain about R2R. Having people like Randy on both sites only benefits people in the reefing community.
There have been and still are some great people who have shared quite a bit of valuable information on both sites over the years. Just like here on R2R, there are people on RC that have been in the hobby for a very long time and only post there. I check in here on R2R more frequently than RC but I still like checking in there as well.
Where I live, the 3 local reef clubs have banned and disabled links to each other's sites which I think is petty. It's a shame, because all of these clubs have some knowledgeable members and great information that could help others .
I have to commend the R2R staff for allowing people to link other sites. Like my local clubs, disallowing the sharing of information here from other forums could make things worse between the members from both sites. That's exactly what happened here locally. It's been that way between my local clubs for at least a decade now.

Having said that, I came here because I got tired of the power trips by the mods at RC. I’m happy with my choice. The funny part is that the last straw for me was a recent thread that asked what RC could do to improve. I was like the third person to post that the mods needed to dial it down a few notches. One mod came after me like a banshee, even throwing in a few personal insults. I think he totally missed the irony.

RC seems more like Craigslist for aquariums and R2R has discussions about reefing. I’ve been hitting both frequently since deciding to reboot my tank. That said I spend at least triple the time here that I do over there.
