Was going to ask the same thing, who doesn't name their fish?

I did until the names got so stupid I had to stop.. I stopped at Bardinal the cardinal... Poon Tang is my favorite lol

My pajama cardinal is named Francis Nelson Stein (Frank N. Stein) cause he looks like he was crudely sewn together from at least three different fish. Frank is actually one of my oldest and favorite fish.

At one point, I had a group of neon tetras in a FW tank that I named the blue man group. After one separated himself from the band, I renamed them Dave and Van Hagar.

The neighbor kids name our fish and my wife calls them those names. I tend to called them by what they are, clownfish, sailfin, pintail, etc.

From a previous thread on the same subject, (https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/my-husband-tells-me-im-crazy.593358/post-6008337), "LOL, my wife calls the Copperband "Rubberband", the Kole tang is "Brighteyes", the anthias are "Antsypants", the Royal Gramma is "Grandma", the Clownfish are the "Jokers", the Blue Chromis are the "Commies", the Kupang damsel is the "Other commie", the Yellow tang is "Ole Yeller", the Flame angel is that "Fireball Whiskey fish" and the Foxface is "Big fat pig"!"
She actually calls the Foxface by another name when she's trying to feed the other fish but he hogs it all. But being a family forum I can't print it. More like "something else" face.
She has also named the two new additions. The Pink Spot Anthias is Pinky Tuscadero (of course) and the Powder Brown Tang is Peanut Butter and Jelly after she misread PBT as PBJ.

Apollo: scarlet hermit crab
Helios: Fire shrimp, newest addition.

The two trochus snails in my frag quarantine tank are Artemis and Astra

I have clown 1, clown 2, big clown, blue tang, yellow tang, mandarin, foxface, cream angel, blue damsel, green chromis. I think they are good names, still better than calling them Zebrasoma flavescens, Paracanthurus hepatus , Siganus vulpinus, Apolemichthys xanthurus, etc

We name the fish, but only after they've been in the DT for 3 weeks or longer, or have identical fish in the tank. I have a Kole Tang named Kole Slaw (I know...), a black clownfish named Emo Nemo, and an orange one named Ome Nome. A One Spot Foxface named Uno, and a Magnificent Foxface named Magnus the Magnificent. Red Emerald Crab, name Mr. Crab. Previous names used were Pootie the Tang for a bristletooth tomini, and chocolate chip for a Leopard Wrasse. Yes, young people are involved in the fish naming.
