Dorm tanks? New Orleans?

Thank you so much!! Since I really ~really~ want a peninsula this may be the way I have to go… sounds like the perfect high school graduation gift to me!

Handful of peninsulas on the site! And if you need one modified I think @Tenecor Aquariums would help you out!

Hell yeah that sounds perfect!! Thinking about a bonded pair of purple/blue coral bandeds as the livestock, seems pretty interesting and easy to maintain

I think a peninsula is my next tank! I've been wanting one for awhile. I also need a larger frag tank though....

Unfortunately the college is pretty small, only about 4000 students so I don’t think they have a nice reef tank. I think I’m going to try to start a small “collection” tank in the marine biology department/room with stuff I get out of the gulf. For observation purposes yknow?
If there is a marine bio degree program, maybe you can start a tank for the department!

You’re gonna love it if you end up with a peninsula, I loved mine to bits and pieces before the heater disaster of 2021

Thumbs up for the tank!

Double thumbs down on the heater disaster!

I should!! A lot of the credits come from off site research programs in the gulf so I’m hoping there will be a chance to set up a 45 gallon with stuff we pull up!

Had a tank in college. Had a tank disaster the night before a final. Oh well.
Tulane will require you to have an evacuation plan. Might get interesting if a tropical storm is headed between Houston and NO. They may make you evacuate, but you wont know where the storm is going to land. Power will be out.
I know you know what you are doing, but id encourage you to wait until sophomore year or at least second semester.

Hey guys!! I know it’s been a long time since I made a post but life has been crazy. I’m going to college this summer at Tulane in New Orleans (yay!) and I was wondering if any of y’all had/have dorm tanks? How’re y’all doing it? What brands do you like? I’m guessing AIO is really the only way to go.

I’m planning on a biology major with a minor in marine biology!!! Figure I can’t possibly be a marine biology student without a sick reef tank :)

If anybody has recommendations for a LFS in/near New Orleans I’m all ears!

Make sure you can get distilled water easily. Also try to make the tank make as minimal of a mess as possible.
