Fatmike's Sexy 57 Rimless

Don't use that! Any of the Bath or kitchen ones have chemicals to kill mold. I think GE 1 for doors and windows is the one that is safe.

I did not use it. I got some all glass silicon from the LFS

Alright once I silicon it then its final. Last chance for people to say no don't do it just cap it!

I like the glass idea though.

Alright I'm just going to get new bulkheads and then cap them

The deep blue bulkheads had messed up threading.

I'm heading to the plumbing store today and I'm going to pick up some bulkheads and some PVC pipes and some caps.

I'm going to drill a 1.5" hole on the back for the drain and then just have the return come over top the back of the tank

Alright here is my capping of the existing overflows. I put silicon in and around any part that could or had a chance of leaking.

Now I'll start on the pillar tonight!

Good call and you will sleep better at night! :)

Thanks rev! Ya I'm all about sleeping better lol. I also siliconed the caps. Once it drys ill add a little more and then finally start on the pillar

I'm going to cement rocks together to create layers and then cement the layers together. It should work out pretty well

Thanks. dont you just hate it when work gets in the way of things you want to do!

Thanks! and neither can I lol I have all these Ideas and it doesnt look like what I had pictured at first but I perfectly happy with how it is going!

thats why I am glad I am doing it slow. it gives me time to do and redo and then undo and redo again and then undo and then redo! lol but at least then I can get opinons and research things to make sure it it right!

I was just talking with a guy at my LFS about getting a 90 gallon to replace my 75 deep blue rimless because of the overflow being so big. I really didn't want to give up the starfire tank. This is a great idea and hope you don't mind if I follow your guidance.

no not at all if you have any questions let me know! Ha righ now I am flying by the seat of my pants ive never done any kind of modifications like this before so it has definitely been very interesting. im hoping to get it drilled sunday

Eh I'm to tired I can't put any effort towards cementing rocks together lol

Everything looks awesome! Very clean. I'm wondering about two things. That straight overflow pipe is probably going to sound like a toilet flushing unless you do the bent u thingy at the top a la bean animals dead silent.
Also, at the beginning of the thread you said you were going to put two haddonis on the right. At 2-3' across when grown, one will have to go on the left and you won't have anywhere to put corals.
Really like how this is coming together though. Put a alot of work into it.

HA! oh the things I want to do but once I actually put the tank up I know I can no longer do! Ill just stick with the red Haddoni for now and stay away from a blue one also its just not possible.

and ya I was going to have the plubing like that but I changed all that when I decided to plug up the bottom and drill the back now I think it should be fine because I was worried about that same issue. I am no plumbing expert at all so the plumbing really is one thing that will take me at least a week!

But thanks! ya im hard at work this morning trying to get some rocks cemented together! ive got some ideas just trying to figure out how to do it!

Looking great so far.

thanks! the pillar should be done this morning so stay tuned!

Alright here is my new list of fish (some I'm set on others are just considerations)

Fish I have:

Black ice clown pair
Starry Blenny
Flaming prawn goby

Fish to buy:

Small pest eating wrasse I have no clue what one (maybe a possum wrasse I'll definitely need a pest eating wrasse though)
Gold Rhomboid wrasse (set on this for sure)
Kuiters leopard Wrasse (consideration, I absolutely love this fish I've never seen one before saw it on live aquaria)
Red mandarin (pretty set on this guy)

Trio of ventralis anthias (I'm not set on these guys yet but they are awesome. Probably would be the last thing I add)

I'm finally done!!!! The rock work is all done. Right now I am just waiting for the cement to harden and set and then I'll take the rocks out that are bracing some of the over hangs and I'll put up some pictures

Ha it feels so good to be done!
