Are you implying that buying a 300$ frag, growing it out and selling a 100 of them for 300$ is not moral??
i only ask because I always see that used as an example!

Edited: That is a great question. I say that one IS moral....why? because there is a willing buyer and a willing seller that agree upon the price / value of the exchange and the thing being exchanged is a luxury / non critical to survival item.

This brings up morality????

Nothing wrong with people trying to get a good deal even when it is an error. Big companies do it all the time loop holes, legal teams to fight cases that the normal plaintiff can’t compete with etc.

Heck I know someone who got a $10,000 ring for close to $200 because the jeweler placed it in the wrong spot jeweler tried to argue and say it was a much more expensive ring but the manager overheard and said that was the advertised priced so it would be sold for $200 and that the store would write it off and file a insurance claim too.

So wait a minute...

I am a buyer, who agreed to a price that was obviously done in error, however, if BRS agrees to the price as well, then there exists no more moral issue for you?

If you tried to sell your 400,000 house (which represents your life savings) and some clerk accidentally listed it at 40,000..would you be happy 'writing it off' if someone bought it? (Yes, I know there are real estate safe guards..but play along). At what point does taking advantage of an accident hurt real people?

Not sure buying something at an incredible price is a moral issue? There are many possible reasons for that great price and no one knows all the facts here…

I know... Broccoli however is bringing up the issue of morality in this situation. His initial statement is that we're all immoral for placing orders (paraphrased), yet the statement I quoted him says as long as BRS also agrees to the price, the moral issue no longer exists... so I am questioning that...

I doubt some wildly marked up hobby grade equipment from one of many brands represents BRS life savings.
So to you..the moral question of taking advantage of someone is based upon how much money they have vs what you have?

I am simplistically stating that MY morality would prevent me from taking advantage of an error. But because morals are relative to the person..my morality is not yours. I am not calling everyone immoral for simply placing orders. I am just enjoying the debate seeing how people think. Just very entertaining in the current environment of equity and how people view their actions.

Ahh, in that case, I'll define my morality.

I would not do this same transaction at saltwateraquarium.com being that they're a small family-owned business, my morality prevents me from taking advantage of peers who are in the same boat I am in.

I have no qualms about doing this to BRS whose parent company keeps buying up brands in this space.

I believe in free-market capitalism, however, we're not in a free market, and governments cater to corporations offering them protections not afforded to the rest of the population, so any advantages the rest of the population can seize is good for them.

I agree with known error part. If a cashier gives me too much change when I purchase something, I always return the extra amount.

Interesting that we don’t know if this is an error or not? BRS is a large company and should have controls in place to prevent something like this happening. It’s also New Years Day and there are great sales happening today. Worst that happens is they cancel the sales.

I too believe it to be moral. However it does come up frequently that there is over charging once one makes the money back they invested originally.
I don’t think BroccoliFarmer is saying people are immoral and going to burn in hell, just more that buying that item “knowing” (which we don’t know 100% [but most likely is]) it is priced wrong goes against his/her personal beliefs.

i think the most interesting thing to me in his whole thing is the amount of dislike people are starting to have towards BRS.not just in this thread but in general. I feel like that is all relatively new, last year or so. Like @JNalley, it bothers me as a consumer to see my choices in an already niche market becoming even more scarce. However, I know that is how business works but it still makes it a bit uneasy.

I think it's real. Looking at my order it shows the price slashed!!!

That was kind of my thoughts to begin with. Smaller selection and hoping brand loyalty prevails??? But you already operate in a small sector and you just make it smaller by carrying only 1 brand of controller.
all speculation as of now…..
