Good Morning!

How do dogs tell time? It does not matter if I take a pain pill, valium or melatonin. I can't remember the last time I truly slept. Even if the pills numb the pain, the poodle will not let me sleep. 3:00 am... On the flipping dot, every night.... bounce bounce, poke poke, mini woof. He does not even try to wake up my husband, just me. If only I could tap him on the head and he'd snooze. Have a spectacular day, reefies. @ReefGrammie stay dry!

Bear gets Jill up every night. But when Jill goes to visit her dad he never gets me up and all 4 sleep all night.
Hmmmmm

Now I am up in the middle of the night anyway. He still gets her up.

Good morning everyone! One of the species that I have been working with lately is a Mummichog (Fundulus heteroclitus) which is a brackish water killifish that I legally collected in full saltwater during the winter holidays this past year while visiting coastal South Carolina. I started pulling and wet incubating the eggs a week and a half ago. Yesterday the first egg hatched and you can see a picture of the fry below. The eggs are about 1.5mm in diameter and the fry in the picture is about 6mm in length. Projects like this rarely go in a straight line and have a mix of successes and failures, but I'll enjoy the small wins when they happen!

Very cool! What type of work do you do? I used to do research involving those fish in coastal South Carolina when I lived in Charleston. I'm one of those marine biologist types.
Fun fact: the most common question asked of marine biologists -"so... why would someone pay you to do this?"

That's awesome! I look forward to catching up with you at a show or sometime when I am over your way. I've bred over 100 species of fish and am ever curious. In addition to my reef tanks I also enjoy native fishes of all salinities as well as killifish as well as.... :)

Good afternoon. I missed the morning post. I got up at 7:30 fed animals and myself and went back to bed since I got maybe 3 hours of sleep. Thanks Azriel.

I can relate! New kitty jumping on me at 1 am, laying by my head purring loudly, then my stomach were he proceeds to make biscuits for 10 minutes, then snuggled in between my legs. Then at 3 am he is lightly pawing me in the face. When he does finally settle down and sleeps he has to be touching me with at least one paw. I turn over and move over a little and he does too so he can be touching me again. He doesn’t bother my husband at all. If we shut the bedroom door he sits there and meows. He may be up for adoption again soon :D Just kidding, we will keep him.
Have a great day everyone!

Good morning! Been busy over here lately.. We're currently hunting property/houses (insanity I know) and just had another granddaughter(#4) this week :D Way too much excitement lol.
Congratulations!!!

This is so cool!!! I grew up coastal and wanted to be a marine biologist....a marine something....a marine anything. I spent 4 years in Puerto Rico when I was young and then many years in Miami. When we lived in Miami, I wanted to go the University of Miami and be a marine biologist, but then we had to move...another coast, but further north. Somehow, I ended up not coastal and as an accountant. Not nearly as fun as my original plans....I guess I just have to live vicariously through my tanks. :)

Don't give up yet! There is still time and still lots of ways to make a difference in the marine biology space!!! I guarantee you that there are marine science businesses, non-profits, and labs that desperately need accounting expertise!

Hmmm, I'll have to think about that. I'm hoping to semi-retire later this year or early next year. I would love to have a "fun job" to wind down my career!

Congratulations! I love hearing about all the new grandbabies. ;Joyful

Good morning
I decided to rebuild the main drain in the sump because I did it wrong when I added the 2 inch gate valve. Now it works but I got a bit frustrated, wet and then I dropped my vape mod in the skimmer drain bucket. It started smoking. It has 2 lipo batteries inside. KaBoom aborted. Then I had to order a new one.
WooHoo time for coffee.

Seems like we just got grandbabies but they are talking to us on the phone now. The next one is due in December.
Cody will be Paige's brother.

Good morning! I'm so glad Friday is here. My LED driver has apparently gone out on the right side...ugh. Thankfully, it's still under warranty and I should have a replacement early next week.

I'm most worried about my acropora and the monticap. My light looks like whites/blues (normal) on the left side and actinic on the right side at during the day now. Yesterday was the first day this happened. I can move two of my acros over to the left side temporarily, but the other two and the monticap are on their own.

Do you think I should ramp my settings down when I get the replacement? I'm worried I'm going to send everything into shock if I immediately program my current custom settings.

Here is a not-so-great cell phone pictures, but you can see what I'm talking about with my half-white/half-blue tank.

Anyway, I hope you have a great Friday/weekend!

Same here. We still have the resident toddler/family. They moved back to town at the absolute worst time to buy a house. They will be with us for who knows how long, but we're really enjoying having family around after being isolated for several years. That's exciting news!

Good Morning!

I just noticed this in an old Facebook post of mine from 2019. I thought you might get a laugh out of it.

This is a conversation I just had. Seriously. I am not exaggerating at all.
I was getting my hair cut and the barber said:

- Are you taking your children anywhere for Christmas break?
- Yes, we are going skiing. They just got two feet of snow, so it should be great.
- Wow, that's awesome. So, are you going waterskiing?
- No, snow skiing.
- Oh. I guess that makes sense.
- We have been taking them for years. They really love it.
- Oh. Is this their first time?
- No, we have been taking them for a long time.
- Oh, ok.
- So, do you usually go during the summer?
