O-Tay,
Finally got my co-workers shots of the Full Eclipse in Nashville.
His shots are off by one hour and the one shot has Venus in it.

I got the joy of holding the filter above his camera

How has the Setosa been doing with the Kessil a80/t5 hybird lighting???

Well,
A little background on this coral. From my memory

I bought it about a year and a half ago.
It was about 1" wide and came from my local reef shop as a knock off and not an ORA. It also had a hole in the middle of it, so it was real easy to putty down. I paid about $20 for this frag.

On another note: @hybridazn says on his build that he feels like flow can effect the way that an sps can grow and this coral proves that theory out.

I used to run the Gyre on pulse mode at 50% and the Setosa always grew out flat.
Since I started running the Gyre on pulse at the lowest setting it began to spike up and out.

I do agree that I don't have any Pink Floyd's, Mind Blender's, Homewrecker's etc... but I still love the corals that I do have and able to grow. (LOL) If somebody want's to donate a Homewrecker to the cause, then I'm all in.

So onto some shots.

Week #2 of checking phos. and nitrates with the new Purigen reactor.

Phos. = .025-ppm (Hanna ULR Checker)
Nitrates = 5-ppm (Salifert)

Phos. did drop a tad but we also brought the GFO reactor back online and also could be within the margin of error with the Hanna checker. ;Wacky

If #'s hold after six weeks, would like to see ;Wideyed how the KZ coral snow plays out. Had great polyp extension the two nights that we dosed the KZ snow.

Either way, I'll take the above #'s. ;Woot ;Woot

First off, I'm sorry that I have not been on R2R that much lately.

I've been advertising, all my life and my company as been picking up the slack for other firms in the Houston area.
Very hard to pickup on an advertising campaign from another firm in mid-stream

But was able to pickup some goodies, today.

Don't know why

but my tangs have always loved this particular brand

While I was already out and about, followed @justingraham 's lead on this thing

And (lol) back to work ;Dead

It makes life so much easier and takes one variable out of getting the same consistant results out of ur Hannah

there is also a syringe adapter out there for 1ml that I am on the hunt for it is used for people with diabetes I can only find ten packs of them and well I'm not spending that money for something like that.

This syringe is awesome!!!
It dead stops on 10ml every time and it's built really well too.

If you find the one ml adapter for this syringe then (lol) give me a shout.

Here we go and will use with the the ULR checker too.

What I like about the syringe is the consistancy it just takes one more part of the proplem of testing us humans.

I'm looking for a ten ml nozzle to fit on the tip this way I don't have to ever clean it either as it seems the o ring might go after awhile.

I'm glad u found it and like it

When I get home I'll show u my testing station

What way do you have the inlet of your skimmer pump located in reference to the water flow?

I had mine facing away from the water movement and after thinking about it for awhile I'm thinking it should be facing towards the water movement.

Google has no answers on this I have seen it every way possible in the images just wondering if it matter or not

I have the skimmers inlet kinda facing the first chamber's outlet that holds the down pipe filter socks.
So it (the intake) does face the flow direction in the sump but I can't prove that it makes a difference.

GoVols: Post of the day

First off I was not going to make and post today, but... I got a PM from @Broadfield (Toby)

He's known for along time that I always wanted to have the MH/T5 Giesemann Spectra over the S-400.
And it's the only MH/T5 that my wife likes because it looks really nice.

The only reason that I never hung one of those fixtures over the S-400 is because they only made it in a 24" or 48" and I need a 36".

Looks like Toby has never forgot about me and Giesemann does make the Spectra in a 36".

With that said, The S-400 has been in a sweet spot and I'm leaving it be with the Kessil a80/T5 hybird.
If I do make a lighting change, it will be to the 36" Spectra MH/T5.
I can't push the 20K Radiums but Toby was pushing 22K's.

Thanks Freddie, I was just trying to help out a fellow reefer. I'm sure we would be close friends if we lived closer! I agree, no need to change something that is working so well. I'm glad you are having great success and hopefully it continues. I'm actually finally starting to get my tank dialed back in after changing to the Spectra. It has better coverage and PAR than what was on the tank previously. So my nutrient demand went way up to match the higher light intensity.

I can't prove it, but we may have found the cause of the Fritz RPM QC going down hill of late, by releasing bad batches.
They could have ramped up production for the making the new LiveAquaria Reef mix???

And, May have??? lost their quality control in the process.

Who else besides Fritz makes 205 gallon boxes, 180 buckets and 53 gallon bags than Fritz??? And they are the exact same boxes, buckets and bags that Fritz uses. Also the specs. to which both say they mix to, are almost identical.

AF makes a 200 box 175 bucket
Red Sea 200 bag/box 175 bucket
IO 200 box, 160 bucket
Tropic Marin 200 bucket
etc

There are several thread here with the discussions of inconsistencies of numbers on the box compared to the actual mixed results, here is a link to a pretty good discussion. The number are not low but always high. Could this be done on purpose for the average reefer who dose not have a heavy seeding of coral? And the salts work well on those system during water changes. HMMM
