Wait, wut?! Fritz is manufacturing the Live Aquaria salt?
And I was looking forward to trying that stuff.

A Triton test for every new bucket to eliminate problems outside of the big-3 (which was HW's problem) and pick a salt that tends to run low so you can dose up to desire params. You know all this, but I'm getting more doubtful that we every get out of dosing our WC water. After the first few mixes come out the same, I'll dose blind (which is what I do now, add 15ml Mg + 5ml Alk to my freshly made Red Sea blue bucket mix)

Micheal,
My only concern with Shaun at Fritz, was if he had a growth spurt, would he lose the QC ,that he touted that he had, when it was a new mix and held under control.

I'm all for company growth but it has do be done in the right manner as in not losing your initial and loyal customer base.

I can't prove that it's the exact same mix, but it sure looks like, that it is?

@MrMichael showed me the press release and from those parameters, I started digging and looking at the boxes, buckets and bags

Oh ok, well... salts could have similar parameters. I wish they all were more similar. I never liked any elevated numbers.
But it would be interesting to know who is producing the new LA salt.

It comes in the exact same 205 gallon boxes, 180 gallon buckets and 53 gallon bags

That's too much of a coincidence. I understand a lot of them can have the same numbers but the same size boxes to match those numbers just seems to be- diagnosis as I said too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence.

Funny thing is that I just talked with Live Aquaria at MACNA and thought to myself... I will try it out once it is released. I currently use Fritz

I have to say I have never seen two salt mixes with the exact listed parameters before.

I loved the one box of the RPM that I used at the first of the year.

I keep the display at about:
Cal - 440
Alk - 8.5 dkh
Mag - 1400

But... After being back on the RPM forum and seeing sky high cal and mag being released to the consumers...
I'm staying put with dosing up the Blue Bucket.

If IO's alk was not so high with my large water changes, then I'd just had stayed with it.

I truly have not be able to tell the different in my reef's (over the years) from one mix to the other, but I do want stability within the mix that I use from bucket to bucket or batch to batch.

All companies can release bad batches but I do not like the treatment that those reefer's got from Fritz on that forum.

When I using the RPM. Shaun said the cal should be between 430 - 450.
Now the website's cal tolerance is between 400 - 450

Anyways,
I liked the LiveAquaira's parameters ;Wideyed so I tried to figure out who was making their salt

Everything is looking good freddie! And trust me, you don't have to worry about not having some of the fancier corals, they're the first thing to turn green when the tank isn't happy. Ask my green cadillac -_- lol

+1. Look what happened to my tank. Monti's, LPS and softies all survived but it was the acro's that bit the Dust.

Week #3 (21 days) of checking phos. and nitrates with the new Purigen reactor
2 weeks (14 days) with GFO reactor back online.

Phos. = .ooo-ppm (Hanna ULR Checker)

Nitrates = 5-ppm (Salifert)

Phos. has bottomed out ;Dead and tested three times, but have new regents???

Shutdown ;Stop GFO reactor and will retest phos. in 7 days. ;Wideyed

Nitrates staying dialed into... 5ppm. ;Woot ;Woot

What has GoVols been tinkering with, this evening???

Well,
As we saw in the above post. The phos. bottomed out and I turned the GFO reactor off. (for the time being)
So, why not just clean it out???

Also, When we started the new Purigen reactor, I used the old Purigen from the AquaMaxx reactor.
Have no clue what the final dose was. So let's re-charge the reactor and see what the new Puirgen dose is.

Meanwhile, I did tell @MrMichael that I wanted to try the new Reef Octopus reactor with GFO too and this is the perfect time to give it go. It would be nice to have matching reactor's down the road. (I did add an upper "old" sponge when trying the GFO)
