Help me price this HUGE hammer colony

I estimate that there’s 30-40 heads in this single colony, with many many baby growths coming out. Please help me value it. Not planning on selling, just sharing it and seeing opinions. It’s the one on the far right in second picture. Approximately 15 inches in diameter. Almost a perfect sphere.

I think it’s probably worth a few thousand dollars if you did. Possibly sell for $1,000-$2,000+ but realistically the market for it would be small and fragging it would be the better option if you ever decided to sell it. Heads are around $50-$200 each depending on various factors so I multipled it.

I’d frag it up and sell locally. Then keep a good size colony. PayPal to hold for the win. They always come. HaHa.

If not for PayPal to hold, 50% of people show up late, forget, can’t make it today, no call no show, and the list goes on. With PayPal to hold its amazing how reliable people become.

An accurate price if someone was looking to Buy it and frag to flip it would be probably $20 per head.

It's pretty but colonies that size and bigger come in every week. They aren't fetching $50-200 per head.

I’d disagree looking online heads are around that price depending on what kind. You will find very few for around $20 but most are more even in person too. And I’ve never seen a $20 hammer frag at least near me or even at a show.

That doesn't surprise me at all. You don't know where to look. Of course you're not going to find those pricing at retail vendors. Where do you think they buy from? And where do you think that distributor buys from? Oh yeah importers! Who bring in 50 to 200 head colonies of Euphyllia about every day. There IS a market price on large colonies being sold to chop and resell. You don't know it.

Correct. A hobbyist selling one or two frags maybe 40 ahead is setting the market at $40 per head at that volume. That's not what the volume this OP is talking about.

Huge colonies north of 100 heads being sold are not rare... Unique Corals buys them delivered in 3'x3' stock trays. One colony. There Is a market price for large colonies. It isn't hobbyists who are buying them and setting the market. Heck, I've got 10 heads of a rainbow gold hammer from a 250 head import. There are different prices in different markets and for large colonies the market is not 40 to 50 a head much less 200

Yea I think $20 a head is the homie hook up now. I wouldn’t pay more than $100 but last time i dropped that much I got a huge Aussie gold and pink branching. Really depends on the variant. Green and purple appear to me as the most common.

Sadly everyone including hobbyist are going off of the upsold retail commercialization of this hobby...

I've got some fancy names for my coral... I will charge more.

I shoot for $35 a head..I look at it this way. LFS gives $16 a head or $16 a frag, in store credit. If I can get $20 cash,I'm ahead of the game.
