He is great!! He made it to the main tank and his fins are growing back GORGEOUS!!! He is right up at the top of the tank as soon as the pumps shut off ready for food. He is ALL OVER the tank and loves his buddies. Seriously the most personality I have EVER seen on a cardinal! Its awesome. his bully counterpart is doing well in my sister in laws tank.

All too often fish stop eating because of internal parasites and then weaken developing secondary bacterial infections that are finally observable, red sores, etc. Sometimes it takes awhile to defeat internal parasites. Let's hope this is not the case but be prepared for more than the normal 10 day treatment period. Hope this helps.

So - after 10 days of antibiotics, if he has internal, would I run prazi? Or keep with the trifecta?

Sometimes another round of the trifecta is necessary to defeat tough, resistant internal parasites/worms. Prazi is more for external parasites like flukes and some internal parasites. Once the trifecta starts working, and you know fish are very slow to respond to antibiotics, and the fish begins to eat, we often recommend to feed directly some Metro + Focus+ Food into the fish's gut to help battle tough, persistent parasites/worms.

Ahhh good to hear, let's get this one health. I do like the vitamin suggestion to help, I think we discussed this with Stubby. C for the stress and b-12 for recovery and energy.

Did about a 60-70% water change to get most of the medication out. I will run carbon until morning and start antibiotics in the morning. He hasn't eaten in 3 days - so I feel like time is running out to get him eating!

Start them all together. Follow the dosage and water change directions. Always a good idea to add some additional oxygen to the water during treatment.

I have a 20 gallon HOB Filter and an air stone running. I have a power head in there too if I need to add more air flow, but he is weak, so I don't want to turn it on if I don't have to!

I'd turn the HOB down as low as possible; and run the airstone at a pretty good rate. That should take care of the O2.

The infection seems to be spreading. More read on his fans. Can anyone tell me what kind of infection this is? Just a general bacterial infection? He has all three anabiotic’s running right now. I will do the second dose of furan tonight.

Tomorrow night, I will do the 25% water change, followed by a second dose of kanaplex and metroplex.

He is hanging in there, but still not eating. Anything else I can do besides wait?

Poor guy, hopefully you can get him eating. He's been starving for a long time... I suggest naming him Cheese. (He's yellow and thin as a slice of cheese)

Lower the stress as much as possible. Turn out the lights. And really boost the O2 levels as possible.
I hesitate to suggest but a bath in Ruby Reef Rally works wonders on fish in rough condition. It's combination of antibiotic and antiseptic qualities often produces results.
Another med I suggest for fish with "red sores" in Nitrofuracine Green Powder. Lots of suppliers and LFS treat roughed up, starved, newly received fish with this powder. Very good results.
