Help! My Midas Blenny is in trouble.

It has been in my tank about a month, was doing good, eating fine, until about 2 days ago. Then it stopped eating and just hides in behind a piece of rock. Today i came home and it was down behind another rock, i though it was dead, but i saw it breathing. I removed the rock and it started swimming, but not well. I don't see anything on its skin. Any suggestions?

The tank is about 8 years old, and i have an onyx clown, a yellow eyetang, and two PJ cardinal fish. Everyone else seems fine. And no, i don't quarantine, i just don't have a set up for it. Guess I'm going to have to set something up.

It was breathing a little heavy i guess. Other then that i didn't notice anything.

You said "was", is he still alive? Eating?

Its not eating, I'm not sure if it's still alive, i can't find it.

You might not experience any real issues related to the death itself. The real problem is the cause. Without much more info we would only be guessing about what's wrong with him. There are things that can wipe out an entire tank without treatment, like velvet. Some of these things won't even show much in the way of symptoms. You'll want to watch the rest of your fish carefully for the next week or two.

Like melypr said watch fish closely as often as possible. If it is velvet it is a fast killer so best bet is to catch it as early as possible

Little bigger than salt grains or white spots all over, they can attack the gills and suffocate a fish before they show symptoms though. I would personally at up a qt as fast as possible so it's ready to go if the need arises.

He was eating great until a couple days ago.
