HomeWrecker under normal lighting?

How much is a frag going for now a day? I would be pretty sad if I paid $1k for what you guys posted. Just sayin
A few months ago a guy i know made 4 frags and sold them each for $400 at our local frag swap. Quite the deal.

Funny all these stories about how many HW frags are out there and the price is still high.

They will start showing up at swaps next year for 250-300. What I find more surprising is all these "frags" are just nubs cut from frags, I have yet to see something I would even call remotely close to a colony.

Most JF homewrecker pictures online are taken under actinic lights. Can someone share photos of HW under full lighting? Planning to buy this coral but I want to make sure it looks nice under normal lighting. Thanks!
The site you found them on should send you day lite pics on request. I haven't seen one yet that doesn't.

That's what's been bothering me. I really like the colors of this coral but I don't look at my tank under actinic, and top-down... So that's why I posted it here... With the budget I can get HW or I can get a couple of very nice wild colonies.
Seems to me, as I've been shopping here and there that there are plenty of frags out there just as colorful and exciting that are cheaper until the price falls. That's alot to pay for a frag you can only truly see its colors when looked at a certain way and under certain light. Like cloud pictures " if you tilt your head like this and close one eye"[emoji12] [emoji14]
Where did you originally get the frag from? The structure of the coral looks off to me

Well said Luke33!

Another thing to think about is how many of these really nice corals are in people's tanks under halide or t5 or aren't getting adiquate treatment to make the colors show to their full potential. Often someone will get a frag or colony from someone and it will turn into a "one of a kind" gem in their tank. I have received very nice pieces in every box I get as well, so they are not really rare. I think the ability and or time it takes to take a nice picture like in most high end coral sale pics is more rare than the coral. Although there are those one of a kinds that aren't propigated well at mariculture farms or come in wild.
I am going to be quiet now and wait for some daylight pics. Sorry I was just very surprised to see so many people having my same view.

Just curious, do you get boxes for yourself or you have a store? A box has 20ish colonies... I often just buy from my LFS since I can cherry pick them. And yes as I said the nicest pieces in my tank are wild&mari

I get boxes just for myself and some friends if they want anything. It works out well if the shipment travels good. It can be risky with transhipped stuff but normally it works out. The main reason imo people have trouble with wild and maricultured is because the source has put corals up for sale that have just arrived and the coral can not handle another voyage in a bag. Especially after sitting in a tank at the store that's doesn't have the right parameters, light or flow. And a lot of local fish stores get them in when their tanks can not handle their requirements and the corals don't do well. Most boxes of maricultures are around 20 Pcs when you get the average size colony. I used to buy from local fish stores only right after they arrived and pick my favorites but it got to expensive. Around here a average maricultured is 100 bucks. The stores don't even get transhipped stuff anymore, they just get stuff from wholesalers and pick what they want most of the time. I like getting the boxes straight from the source because you always find some nice stuff and species is very spread out. Local stores don't order certain stuff because it doesn't sell, I like that stuff most of the time :)

True. Do you use LivestockUSA? I was considering buying their Bali Premium box.

Here is a picture of the frag I bought right out of the bag in January 2016. This is under Radion Pros the whites cranked up fairly high as my iPhone does not do well with all blues. I will say the picture doesn't do it justice as the frag was glowing just sitting in the bag. Unfortunately I thought it would be a good idea to move to another tank and nearly lost it. I grew it back from only (3) polyps and is currently covering a small frag plug. Not worth taking a picture of currently however.

It's even funnier how many are out there and nobody wants to post pictures of them under normal lighting conditions so they can keep the prices high...
wish more people can post their pics here.

This picture is stunning for sure. Very nice frag! Hope it recover fast :)

Here is a pic of mine after I got it. It was a little stressed when I received it so it lost some color. I keep my tank lit with 20k radiums, sorry if that isn't considered "normal lighting"

Now take this picture and compare it with the vendor's picture and they look nothing alike. These pictures show me that it just look like a green poly with pink tips, nothing like the vendors picture for sure.I saw the HW and Jerry Garcia in JFox booth at the FFM and they look exactly the same to me.Wasn't seeing the insane prince at all
