Now take this picture and compare it with the vendor's picture and they look nothing alike. These pictures show me that it just look like a green poly with pink tips, nothing like the vendors picture for sure.I saw the HW and Jerry Garcia in JFox booth at the FFM and they look exactly the same to me.Wasn't seeing the insane prince at all
The very reason I used to trust some sellers' pictures and now I know they are inaccurate and the colors are oversaturated.

Under t5 witch is what jf uses. the pinks are all the time with correct bulbs. I'm currently using mh in one set up and other set up running t5 so gona throw one in there see the difference. Under just blues insane colors. My colony has the colors but I can't take the pics like everyone does. Well here these pics are from day 1 of getting from jf

Last pic was sent to me from a guy sorry don't rember who it was back when I was thinking of getting hw...
Hw beside Jerry Garcia under blues.. photo shopped no my hw looks that pink under just blues. I could see the resemblance in some tanks.

People can have their doughts but hw is real. At least in my tank it is.. any one wants to check it out and is close enough. You can confirm for your self. Hw isn't my favorite in my tank but then it changes daily what's my favorite as I see new stuff I didn't notice before. And have most of the named corals out there. Some have turned out not what it was to look like in my tank but hw is one that looks close to jf pics.

There's not a hater on here that would turn down a frag of homewrecker if "money didn't matter"... anyone that claims otherwise needs to smell what they are shovelling.

I've seen the mother colony they have at Reefer's direct in person, it's not your ordinary tenius. It stands out.

That being said value is what it is, it's what the market supports. I've never seen one hang around on a WYSIWYG site very long so, clearly there's a demand.

Just like anything in reefing, we all value things differently.

Unreal

I recently bought one and I run my tank under G4's (SPS AB+) with whites turned up. I only recently received (yesterday) this and it shows a lot of green when I first put it in my tank, however, I can see the pink tips developing and I am excited to see what it grows into.

You guys realize you could buy 10 wild/Mari colonies, keep them two months then sell what isn't fancy and get your money back. Rotate out until you find one just a tad different, put in blue lighting, after a month it'll have some color. Then take a pic with 100% blue lighting, name it something really stupid, then edit the heck out of the picture and sell it by the 1/4" for $600.

Honestly though, as long as people keep paying for it the vendors are going to keep eating it up. It's like a child that keeps doing something every time he gets a little reaction out of you.

I was disappointed he didn't bring one to the Atlanta Reef Club Expo. If he did, based on the frags I saw, it doesn't look anything like what he is photographing it as.

Edit: I knew it from the beginning though from my thread that caused an uproar on here then Facebook.

Is that under a black light?

Interesting post dude. The dynamics of free market capitalism simply allow the would be consumer to opt out if they don't agree with a price. In other words, just don't buy it. Is it any more complicated than that?

Nobody is dismissing about the pink tip.Look at the picture that reefer's direct posted and the other picture.Where is the orange polyp and the yellow coralite in the other pictures posted. All the other pictures has green polyp and even topshelf has green but not reefer direct. It's a nice coral for sure but atleast be realistic about it.It is hype up just like WD was with all the insane colors

I'm really not liking where the conversation's going. People here are not haters. We all have different things we value. For some people that added color/intensity is worth the extra but for some it's not. The thread is meant to get people to look at HW under normal aquarium lighting.

So please don't label people who have different opinions as haters. If someone wants to buy them no one's gonna stop you. I'm thinking of buying one myself.

I can point to a few. But I agree. Back on the HW topic.

I think the picture posted by marquiseo is that the whole colony looks better than what everyone is posting and it's still priced as a "premium maricultured colony" as it should be. No one is selling 1/8" tips for a grand.

Yeah I know get back on topic. I'll stay there now.

I was just looking at my WD and it has all these fancy colors - orange + green polyps & purple tips under actinic. But with my t5 bulbs all on it loses the intense coloration......unless I look at it from top down. Sure when you are the seller you want to take topdown pics but when you are the buyer you want to know how a coral looks like when you are looking through the front glass. So how does homewrecker look like from the front view?

Here is a pic of mine after I got it. It was a little stressed when I received it so it lost some color. I keep my tank lit with 20k radiums, sorry if that isn't considered "normal lighting"

Beautiful frags, man!

Having seen the HW in person at JF's booth, I can say that it DOES look exactly like the photos he has of it. I was a skeptic at first. However, once you see his frags in person, there's no denying that it is what he sells it as.

Agreed!

I'm also a bit curious as to what qualifies as "normal lighting." Can someone lay out some specific light spectrums? 20k? 14k? 6.5k? :-) I think what we all consider "normal" may be pretty diverse. OP, what were some ranges you had in mind? What spectrum do you run on your tank?
