How did LiveAquaria miss this one???

Okay this is my first thread so if I do something wonky don't judge too much. So basically I was browsing the Diver's Den section of LiveAquaria.com, looking at their fish. I have always been extremely impressed with the healthy looking animals especially in the Diver's Den area. They almost always have amazing diversity and crazy healthy fish. But, this time I spotted something that made me question that. It confused me at first, what appeared to be a weird lump on a Banded Longfin Basslet that they were selling. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that they were trying to sell the fish with a PARASITIC ISOPOD on it! I couldn't believe it. it is the exact same color as the poor animal and a little hard to see. My question is if these fish are so high in quality, don't they check them for diseases. I always see them marked down in price when they have a nipped fin or something. But I'm pretty sure that most people would not want to buy a $70 dollar fish only to find that it has parasites. What do you guys think? I am not hammering their company; I know that they ship out thousands of animals every year and it can be a lot to keep track of but this is a bit concerning. Do you think their quality is dropping or was it an honest mistake?

I would email them to let them know I doubt this happens often and tbh its probably just because its the same color of the fish.

Oh yeah me too it kinda freaked me out at first. Argh imagine having something like that on you and it draining your nutrients. Makes my skin crawl.

yeah i was thinking about that. I think I will do that. Now that I think about it it does look hard to spot especially since the fish is smaller.

The quality of divers den has went down just as much as regular live aquaria IME. I’ve received regal angels with lymph, they once sent me captive bred Bangaii cardinals when I ordered azure damsels, and acro colonies bleached white. Add that to the extra charges and changes to their warranty policies and it has made stop ordering from them after being a customer for over 20 years.

I don't order from Live Aquaria anymore since the quality of livestock has gone down, their warranty has shrunk and their shipping prices gave gone up. Everything all together is just worse. It's almost like PetCo bought them out...

K I just emailed them my concerns and a picture for reference. Let's hope that it is treated appropriately and the parasite is removed.

Yeah I am also disappointed. Just a few months ago their coral were so much cheaper. Now, they sell tiny nubs for skyrocketed prices. It is absolutely insane. I liked to think it was because of their "quarantine procedures" and stuff but now I just don't know.

I like to look at divers den but will never order again. I received fish that broke out with ich and velvet within a day or 2. Just not worth the surcharge. Their is really nothing special about there claimed QT procedure

Mistakes happen. I will say I haven’t been overly impressed with live aquaria. I received a hippo with mouth rot, and it wasn’t hard to spot.

What was the point of shaming the retailer. You should have just informed them that one of their employees missed it.
