How did LiveAquaria miss this one???

What was the point of shaming the retailer. You should have just informed them that one of their employees missed it.

They deserved to be ripped............there is no way that would have gotten by them in previous years. The quality of the livestock has suffered for quite some time now and the prices have continuously risen especially on fish in the past year or so.

This is just another example of poor care and maintenance.

I for one am glad for all the threads calling them out. They were once the standard everyone online retailer should follow...........their reputation is gone now and continues to decline.

I didn’t see this post as shaming.

Tons of people have the false understanding that fish on DD are free of parasite and disease.

All fish regardless of their source must be QT’d by me before entering my DT. I’ll just reference this post anytime someone asks if DD fish are ok to add without QT.

I have to say that I’m glad the OP released this. Will it hurt their business? No. Will it help them to improve their practices? I hope. But at least buyers are aware that they can’t just buy any fish from them and expect a healthy fish free of parasites.

I currently have 16 fish at my house. 9 of which have come from LA over the last year and a half. The other 7 are from other sources (1 from DD, 3 caught by me while in Galveston, 2 from a store in Dallas that I picked up on my way home from vacation, and the last I ordered through @AquaLocker). I’ve been happy with the quality of the fish I’ve received from LA as it’s far better than what I can get at any of the LFS near me.

While I’m ok with the quality of the fish I don’t like all of the changes that are happening as far as cost and most recently not giving the 14 day guarantee on “expert only” fish. This is why I bought my last fish from Aqua Locker. I will still buy from LA with confidence but any “expert only” fish I’ll have to give my money to someone else.

Is it really a surprise to anyone? As soon as I heard the buy-out news I knew exactly how it was going to go, given Petco's reputation. Hasn't it been, about a 2 years since they were bought out by Petco? Kevin Kohen is the man, but he can only do what he's allowed to do anymore. I'm sure he's more upset then anybody.

And that's the world we live in today. Someone makes a mistake or we don't like it, open social media and tell the world instead of giving the company a chance to fix it. Sad.
It’s a company not a someone, they’re open to make money. if the company doesn’t like bad publicity then they should improve their husbandry/policies.
Aqua locker for instance received some complaints about pricing/shipping costs, so instead of complaining about the complaints they changed their policies to make both customers and company more happy.
Thanks to the OP for posting this so others can see.

I thought companies were run by someone, my bad.

If 2 weeks quarantine at the "minimum" did occur, then several people weren't observing the fish at all. I'm sure they were short staffed during the holidays. Not a good excuse, but it happens.

They bought it in 2015.

I did, and they emailed me back saying that they forewarded it to the Diver's Den team to take care of it. I am not shaming them, just disappointed in their supposed excellent products. I am grateful that they replied and I hope they take care of it.

Thanks for the support. I agree wholeheartedly and hope they make some changes; although I doubt they will.

Don't worry I promptly emailed them. They did respond within 24 hours I believe so they got at least that right. I love their stock I just wish that they would return to their previous quality.

It seems today live aquaria is just an easy target. So many big names out there that make the same mistakes as all these buisnesses are run by people and mistakes happen. It's good you shared this but some of the comments I don't get, live aquaria is not the only one that makes mistakes.

I had also emailed them about the fish yesterday before I read that you had. It should have been removed I really hope no one buys it before they can correct the issue.

These are not something that will be treated for in any normal quarantine system. They will survive higher copper than the fish. The insecticides used to treat only treat the free swimmers. Only real treatment is removal. Very similar to anchor worm on koi if anyone here has had the joy of dealing with(every few years my pond gets them from birds). When you are dealing with thousands of fish a day its very easy to miss the very rare parasite.

Wow, thanks for sharing this! I'm new to the board and to the saltwater hobby in general and am trying to soak up all the information I can get. I haven't ordered from Liveaquaria yet, but at least I now know what can happen, both good and bad. I'll hope practices improve and this was just an honest mistake.
