How did LiveAquaria miss this one???

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The fish has been removed from the website. We are monitoring the fish after removal of the parasite and it appears to be doing well. We have followed up with our team to ensure this does not happen again. LiveAquaria does care about the aquatic life we offer for sale. If you have any additional questions or comments feel free to speak to one of our agents at 1-800-334-3699.
Thank you! We all appreciate it! Good luck.

hello,

I’m more than willing to accept backlash for this, with that said it will be professional. Since when is it ever okay to not mention or take Care of any animal pet etc. that’s not just morally and ethically wrong but cruel to animals. It’s every ones responsibility to make others aware. If you were that fish, and suffering would you want care? A better one if you were on the side of the road bleeding to death, would you be a little upset if people passing you by said oh I’m not a paramedic not my problem? if I was bleeding to death or dying and people just drove by ignoring it, it would be more heart breaking than anything. It’s not okay

Go Sarah! :)

OK folks, it is one thing to see a sick fish or a parasite at a store, that is nothing new and is not reason for alarm but it is a reflection on the dark side of the hobby.

What is total BS though... is to be able to spot a parasite on a picture of a fish that has been "carefully selected to be of the highest quality and worthy of the diver's den".

I always thought that divers den was kind of BS anyways. They don't treat any of those fish through formal medication it is just observation.

Anyways.. yeah LA blows, everyone that is really in the game knows this.

If I see someone bleeding on the side of the road I would stop to help and call the proper authorities. I wouldn't jump on social media and tell the world about it.

Is it really a surprise to anyone? As soon as I heard the buy-out news I knew exactly how it was going to go, given Petco's reputation. Hasn't it been, about a 2 years since they were bought out by Petco? Kevin Kohen is the man, but he can only do what he's allowed to do anymore. I'm sure he's more ****** off then anybody.

They were bought out a lot longer than 2 years ago.

Hello,

I would well hope not and that’s for every one not simply imply you. I would hope that someone life or an animals life is worth mentioning to get them help and not post on social media, which this the only one I have. But being a medical professional or even if I wasn’t I would always stop to help any person or animal.
It’s normal for humans animals etc to get sick etc, and we can all do something instead of waiting for the next person to lead the uncomfortable situation where life and death come into play. Being a fish distributor, they should be checking on their fish corals etc daily. If they are sick remove them. I also want to point out very clearly Im not singling out live aquaria. I have not used them, no experience with others except my lfs. But it doesn’t matter if it’s them, petco, Goofies fish mart, who knows. The staff should be watching them each day, so even if they do not sell they live well. It would me morally and ethically wrong to sell someone an animal or fish they know is sick and or dying, for profit. If we are going to decide to catch them out of the wild or however they do it now, changes daily, then care for them.
regardless if it’s a fish or not, what’s the difference between the life of a fish to that of a human? When we start placing money above life, where does that leave us? Even our medical for humans is horrible, and those who are poor get terrible coverage and needs. Again we see people who are sick and stand idle, this isn’t my problem. Yet that’s why it always happens, because we have a lot that do.
Im not saying, for example you do this, (hope not), but the only way I can help the problem is saying something, and not accusing them. How many times do we see it with cats dogs, puppies, exotic pets, snakes pick your critter, left on their own because they were no longer important.
Live aquaria May have missed this, it does happen, but how many days did it take? If said person had not noticed, would anything be done. I hope so. If not why do we as hobbyists allow it, and we are all to blame, myself included. I’m far from innocent, (have I let an animal suffer in my care well yeah, because I couldn’t catch the fish in my 240 reef. But I still tried, failed but tried), other pets no I have gotten them help.
people are more than welcome to blast me, that’s fine it’s worth getting blasted for. I don’t want to single anyone out, or company because that’s not professional, but I mean this as a community in whole.

So your saying the next time a medical professional makes an error instead of calling it to their attention I should post it all over social media? No, instead give them a chance to fix it.

Liveaquaria is the worst. Sent me sick fish with uronema and when I sent them photos of them in the quarantine tank they said “yup they’re sick. you need to treat the fish here’s what we suggest”
They died and they gave me store credit... I won’t buy fish from them again

Hello,

Umm huh! No I did not imply that at all, not even close. The op posted that a fish was sick correct, and nobody did anything correct. So what he did was post his concern, because that company does come on here. It was a professional post and valid complaint. But your missing the key here well two of them. First, is how can anybody morally and ethically allow any animal or human to suffer and not act, or they won’t because well it’s scary I know first hand. Secondly, and I’ll give some room here, I don’t have aka social media, fb, Twitter or that other whatever it is etc. I do not consider R2R aka social media. The people who come on here have one thing in common saltwater fish reefs. Now blasting this on Facebook etc yeah not okay, unless options are exhausted and the company needs to be made aware. Posting some one passing or accidents of those, is just horrible. But posting to bring attention to a company because they won’t listen is another.
Talking about how bad fish are treated at a fish store that specializes in their care is fair game. They won’t stop until their profit hurts. If you walked into a fish store and saw a sick fish, dying corals, would you shake your head and leave, or would you say something? The person who cares says something then leaves. You may be that person who does I don’t know. But do you think it would stop or change if you didn’t or waited for someone else to speak up. No, they would still try and sell it and get their money back and it brings in more profit for them because we go back because we want another fish or coral whatever.
We have no idea what or how online shops care for fish etc. I don’t even know if they are open to the public, being dead honest I don’t. But how many bad complaints does it take, how many have to die, for one to say this is wrong. I can assure anyone that is in that spot wants help right away.
Yes we don’t see or hear all the good comments, we do hear the bad and they probably sell lots of fish. But what if at the end of the week, we were able to see how many died, or not cared for, would that change your mind? It’s not one or 2 here and there, it’s a lot and just people on here not even all of them, say something. What about other forums, or those not on one? Are they gonna stop, Nope because it doesn’t hurt the profit, and people let it go. As again I’m saying this for all of them who ship and sell fish not just the one in this thread.

yes I write long posts lol I still want the never ending post award.

I'm actually a girl... but that's beside the point. I appreciate you standing up for your beliefs. It is inspirational.

What are you talking about? The OP stated they emailed LA within minutes of posting the initial picture. LA later responded they remedied the situation. It appears it was a mistake and was fixed, but you go on multiple, far too long rants with unfounded assumptions about a company you have no factual knowledge about. Chill out. Mistakes are made unfortunately, but everyone deserves a chance to fix them, which they did.

Hello,

I am known for my long posts, I should have that banner by now. If you think those are long try one of my research papers. But there is this handy dandy method called scrolling past to read the end or skip.

You also missed my main point ahh twice. I never called that company out, I said for all companies and stores alike. I also clearly stated I have not dealt with them either or know their process. But regardless it took a non staff member from who knows where to tell them a fish in their tank was sick from a picture. Think about this, if they had paid attention don’t you think they would have noticed first. They do see the fish daily. Which led me to saying it was morally and ethically, wrong for any one to ignore something that is obviously needing medical treatment. You realize that marine fish need to be treated very quickly, or they die. How long was it before they attempted to fix the problem, and does the fish survive?

You want me to chill out, okay, and how do you actually propose I do that? You don’t know me or anything so are you being hypocritical? Yes mistakes happen, And just exactly how would you feel if you had routine doctors visits and they said you were healthy. Then in a week get hospitalized to find you have stage for colon cancer, and it was missed. Well sorry it’s a mistake, sorry you have less than 2 months to live. If they had paid attention all those times when it was in early stages your prognosis for survival is 90%. Please feel free to ignore me block me what ever it is that you would like to do. I was gonna ask should I copy and paste the other two pages of my response or ahh get permission first?
