I’m more than willing to accept backlash for this, with that said it will be professional. Since when is it ever okay to not mention or take Care of any animal pet etc. that’s not just morally and ethically wrong but cruel to animals. It’s every ones responsibility to make others aware. If you were that fish, and suffering would you want care? A better one if you were on the side of the road bleeding to death, would you be a little upset if people passing you by said oh I’m not a paramedic not my problem? if I was bleeding to death or dying and people just drove by ignoring it, it would be more heart breaking than anything. It’s not okay

Hello,

I don’t think I’ll storm with a torch and pitchfork lol but I can see calling them and asking them professionally to do better and show them why. If they keep doing it, then them in for animal cruelty, have them go through an inspection, and be inspected for a year. If they violate the inspection they lose their ability to sell live stock. The only way they learn is by hurting their cash flow.

Unfortunately the society we live in is such that people would either stop to record your bleeding or just do it passing by only to post on Facebook, YouTube or any other franken-media. You get no "likes" just for helping people anymore.

Heartbreaks get even more likes.

It's sad.

True. Then again they are owned by petco... probably has something to do with it

Your quoting a very respectable member of the hobby, I'd suggest you respect others opinions. You should start going to every pet store and start taking pics so we all can "be aware".

I'll say this and I'm done with this thread. As soon as people see a post about live aquaria or Petco the masses start forming. I, including many others have been in this hobby for a very long time. I've been in high end stores that have fish that look horrible. It happens to ALL stores, it's not a Petco only problem. Awareness is one thing, flaming is another. Just like many other stores, I'm sure many people at live aquaria care for the fish.

There’s nothing wrong with a little humor, but there’s a point where it can be taken too far. I think this is that point.
Honest mistakes happen everywhere, and I think that that’s what this was. The parasite was hard to see in a photo of the fish, so I can’t imagine how hard it must have been to spot on a fast moving fish.

i absolutely understand your point. Without respect our society would crumble. But when someone shoots a rude comment my way simply for informing my fellow reefers of my experience then I have the right to defend myself. I respect all on this forum.

I hope I didn’t come across as disrespectful. I deal with backlash through humor. Perhaps I should practice a different method in the future.

What do you guys think? I am not hammering their company; I know that they ship out thousands of animals every year and it can be a lot to keep track of but this is a bit concerning. Do you think their quality is dropping or was it an honest mistake?

Here is the picture of the animal. If you are having trouble spotting the little devil it has bright blue eyes. (BTW this is a screenshot from my phone zoomed in so it isn't the best quality out there. )
