How do you guys convince your spouse when upgrading ?

I let my family pick things out for in the tank. That way they are unknowingly emotionally invested into the hobby.

My two daughters are now teenagers and their opinion really help me with my new setup (and they get emotionally envolved ) but, 10 years ago, when they wanted a princess castle in the middle of my reef tank, that emotional investment had a really high prince LOL
