Started keeping fresh water aquariums when I was 8 years old. Was breeding tropicals in Jr. high and high school for extra money. Started my first full blown reef aquarium just about 19 years ago when i was studying Marine Biology in college and have been able to make it my career.

Just over 3 years now. My addiction started when a coworker became a friend. This coworker was a 14 year hobby veteran and prior to an accident which lead to a coma owned his own saltwater store. After my first visit to his house and seeing his SPS dominant 90 gallon, I knew it was only a matter of time before his addiction infected me. A few months later he gave me a free HOB penguin filter and some live rock. It was all downhill from there!

started in college back in 2005 with my Bar Top reef tank

My grandmother ran a petshop along side my grandfathers sport/bait shop. I've been around aquariums all my life. Back in '87 I ran a reef tank until "91 when we had a monster ice storm where we lost power for two weeks and the loss of power killed my reef.

So I converted it all to african cichlids for 15 years or so and sold all that with my last home. It's been a little over 6 years since we've had fish. The wife and I talked and we decided to do it again, this time differently. The tank has a battery backup and I have a generator too. I've also started with a much larger tank than way back then.

Setup my first SW tank in the 80's and had at least one up and running until 2006. I decided I no longer wanted to make water and switched to cichlids since I could use water straight from my well. Got the itch again recently and jumped right back in with both feet. Going to try and automate as much as I can on the new 150 mixed reef I am setting up. Need to learn a few new things, so it should be interesting.

Started my first SW aquarium when I was 16, so it's been 18 tears now for me.

Ive done saltwater fish for 15yrs. just this last 2yrs i have started a reef tank. enjoy the weird and colorful stuff u can go with. hooked

I had a 55 running freshwater from 1986 to 2000. Moved with it 5 times. In 2000 the center brace broke on it. I found a new tank and switched it to salt water. In 2003 I moved everything to the 58 I have now.

Just over 3 years. I'm just now getting in deep though. The first little while I actually thought about giving my tank to my husband's grandma because she loved it so much. Now we just bought and started her a 14gal bio cube a few months back.

I have kept freshwater aquariums for as long as I can remember. I have been in the saltwater hobby for a year in June and I'd have to say that I am hopelessly addicted. I don't think I could ever live without one now!
