Day two of 2019 and I would like to hear from you!

I realize that a lot of you really like R2R as it is and we are so glad of that! That being said we want to make it even better and the best it can be! There is always room to improve!

Can you think of something or somewhere we can improve on that would make R2R even better?

I really wish it could make me pie. Get on that, man! I know you can do it!!! :D

Well way to go and ruin the surprise!!!!

I wish there was a better way to organize threads. Mainly just unanswered threads and searching. Sometimes it feels like you can start a thread and it instantly gets buried because there's so much activity in the forums (which is awesome). I know there's the 'Unanswered Threads' criteria; maybe we could make it more visible to encourage views on unanswered threads? I'm not saying the posts should be organized Facebook style or anything -- that would be awful. Search wise it would be nice if we could search geographically in for-sale threads (i.e., Colorado only) and then use text criteria (and not be limited to a narrow search result). I could very well be using the search wrong as well lol. Not sure if there's even a solution but figured I'd bring it up!

Pretty minor things to nitpick... this site is incredible and far more stable, fast, UI friendly, etc than most online forums. The UX is pretty excellent and everything is relatively easy to access/find. You and the whole team have done a truly incredible job with keeping this site up and running and friendly. I definitely have never seen a forum as friendly as this ...ever. (try going on a digital photography forum lol).

Keep it up :)

I’ve mentioned this somewhere in the past but being able to sort or filter a thread to only see posts from the OP would be a nice add. For instance if I’d like to follow @revhtree build thread to see your thoughts and progression I must go through hundreds of pages to find them. It would make catching up on peoples journey’s much much easier to do.

Can you give me a little more idea of what you're talking about when it comes to organizing threads?

Your search request for for sale threads etc. is coming! :) We have something now you can use that will give you some similar results but it's going to get much better. Check out the advanced search here: https://www.reef2reef.com/search/?type=post Choose the selling forums, your state prefix and a key word and get something like this: https://www.reef2reef.com/search/46...]=4+988+9+60+10+145+12+199+11+18&c[prefix]=11

Like I said that type of search is going to get much better.

Also the forum is going to get quite a bit faster soon!

That's a great idea and I will be looking for an option to make this a reality.

Also video uploading is coming this month. We've had some add ons that were not good but this one is going to be easy as Facebook would be. :)

Thank you!

As far as organization -- I worded it poorly. I just meant in higher volume areas of the forums (build threads, general discussion, etc) it's pretty easy for your thread to get bumped below the first page where it won't get very many views and replies. Like maybe it would be cool to have unanswered threads that are: not new, and not on the first page, to appear in bold at the top of that respective forum. I.e, if you're in general discussion and create a thread about uronema or something and it gets bumped to the next page AND is a day old (just for example) AND has no replies, it now shows as an 'unanswered post' at the top of the first page. I wonder if it would encourage more people to keep their build threads going. Not sure if it happens but it would be a bummer if you started a build and nobody replies or you have questions about your build and don't get answers. It's pretty minor, but just an idea.

I have a DLSR camera and can’t upload any pictures (24mp) to the site and have to use TP software.

Maybe increase the Max upload amount to keep up with modern cameras?

It will also enhance the pictures for everyone to enjoy

That requires some heavy duty server space, not to mention the time it takes to load on someone's device when reading the thread, and the physical size it would load at.
You should download images to your computer and resize to a more manageable size at 72 dpi. Fast uploads/downloads. Everybody's happy. :)

You can also use Flickr (free). It automated the BBCode for you (choose size large) and people can click on the image to view it in full res on their site. I have a 42mp camera and had the same issue but Flickr makes it super easy.

If possible it would be nice to be able to become a Partner Member at any time instead of having to have just a specified period. Say for example that someone signed up in whatever month of the particular year it would benefit the forum and still allow the member to be a partner. Of course, the regular full price should be paid and not prorated. I for one would not mind paying for the full year if this was a choice.

I think it would be great to get a sub forum under the breeding forum for breeding journals. And that all journals follows the same template(not sure that's the right word, but a form to fill in. All info on breeding stock, temp, food, size etc etc).
Maybe sort them as well, to be able to find successful attempt for example.

Thanks R2R for all the great work you guys do! Looking forward to another great year here :)

My only gripe is that I don't win enough of the giveaways ;-) If you could fix that, it'd be great.

In all seriousness, I'm very happy with how this forum is run, as well as the content provided. You've also do a great job sourcing some top notch vendors/sponsors. Looking forward to the changes in 2019!

Encourage people to go easy on the acronyms. Some people enjoy looking stuff up. But when FTS is in a thread title and you have to google while mentioning reefing, that's a bit too much sleuthing. FULL TANK SHOT. Thank you. Errrr, thank me. :-)

Enable some sort of auto refresh for live sale threads. My F5 key is pretty worn out :P Plus that should remove problems that we see during live sales since everyone viewing the thread spamming refresh is essentially performing a small DDOS against the servers. Or even a steady stream instead of the basic pages like other threads. Nothing is more frustrating than to be spamming refresh only to realize you are on the wrong page.

The live sale threads are pretty intimidating for new users. To be honest I am so unsure of how they work that I completely avoid them. Any plans on maybe turning those into something clickable? As of now I think you have to go to a separate website to prepurchase shipping, then hope you reply to a thread fast enough? Is that right?

You usually pre purchase shipping and then during the live sale have to click a link and get through checkout faster than someone else. And new things are posted every x minutes or something.

Very simple but have to be quick usually.
