I have no inside information and am not saying this will happen but how can I harden my tank against the possibility of a national quarantine? Family and neighbors before fish certainly, but doesn't mean I cannot think about the latter. As a supply chain guy I've long been trained to hope for the best but plan for the worst. Are folks doing anything to make sure their tank can ride out the 'storm'.

1. Had my CaRx CO2 cylinder refilled in the event retail closes to customers.
2. Had the propane cylinders for my genny topped up (BBQ too).
3. Bought a bunch of frozen fish food (though feb/march is when I buy my annual requirements anyhow)

I order salt 5 or 6 cases at a time. I've still got several months before I run out of that. I use BRS 2 part for dosing and recently mixed up 10g of each, so I'm good there for about a year. My DI resin is about used up, but I buy it in bulk as well. Unless the electricity goes out for days (unlikely) or they shut off the water (you'd think so the way people are buying the bottled stuff) it can be on cruise for several months to a year. If I cut water cahnges back a little, probably even longer.

Now, about the ZOMBIES....................

And I have plenty of ammo for the Zombies, LOL!!! ;Hilarious

Crazy thing about panic is that it's contagious. I talked with a buddy this weekend and predicted that when someone suggests they're going to stockpile goods, others will do as well, even if it's just in fear that they will be left out, it compounds exponentially.

Just by bringing up this subject is going to raise people anxieties.

Coco pebbels milk Oregano toilet paper water Oregano

It's just my nature to keep backups and extra containers of everything, and then backups for the backups.
So this pandemic hasn't really changed anything for me as far as the tanks are concerned, at least so far.

And we already had extra cases of toilet paper before this even started, so no panicky trips to Costco for us.

I was just thinking about stocking up on frozen food. I guess worst case I can make it out of seafood in the freezer.
Same, pet stores are not priority businesses. Got 8 packs of mysis from the local petco.

With how bored I am at home, my tanks are going to be thrilled with the extra maintenance.

I was just thinking the same thing. Carbon filter, di filter, & salt. I was thinking of grabbing some vibrant or something to jic. I'm cutting my food back to try & knock water changes down.

Oh and some material to finish up my ats. Going to go ahead and bring that online.

Im home for the foreseeable future. The 2 running tanks are loving the extra daily care. Im getting antsy for my new build, sold a few things on here, and shipped them out, so ordering more gear for that build. Wife even wants to start the living room re model so i can start setting up the new build. This means the bio cube has to move to my office.

I ordered what should be enough supplies for sevral months for the tank. UPS dropped it all off today. Only thing I might run out of is salt. And maybe DI resin. Not totally concerned about those 2 though. Tank can go for a while without a water change. Just need to keep the ato full.

Funny you mention that. I just ordered a full flush kit today from BRS. Once its here, ill be good for a while, only did it because i have to move my wifes cube, and wanted fresh resin...

I recently swapped out all my prefilters and di resin. I totally forgot that I used up the last of my anion resin when I ordered stuff from work. That goes fast for me. Might need to see what the lfs has after work. Some mixed bed resin would be fine in a pinch.

Check out Jehmco for ‘big’ size packages of frozen fish food at great prices ... been using them for many years.

Wow! Thanks for the heads up....they are located right here in New Jersey. Wonder if I could pickup and avoid shipping. Great price of frozen mysis. What frozen food do you purchase?

Frozen mysis and frozen plankton ( smaller mysis)... these are blocks of food that arrive in dry ice. My suggestion is to cut the block down to smaller pieces that will last a week or 2, so that you don’t have to handle the ‘block’ every day. Keep smaller piece in zip lock bag

I live just outside a containment zone, so I’m curious to see what happens to my tanks if they expand it lol. I think I’m pretty well stocked though, at least for a couple months.
