I couldn't find that post but bio balls are great for nitrite conversion but not for nitrates, you need something else like macro algae or bacteria and carbon dosing to take care of that unless you use water changes. I'm not a fan of carbon dosing it works but it strips the water too quickly. I prefer macro algae, I'm currently using chaeto but I'm really considering going back to caluerpa.

For everyone who is still following along with my tank. I think it’s starting to cycle, but I have added quick start 2 times to make sure it is safe for my fish. Also, my frostbite clownfish arrived and is in a breeder box in the tank so they can get use to each other. I have lost both of my red leg hermits.

So, inform me. I am going to go threw everything I had almost beat again???

I use 2 types of bacteria in a bottle to get the best results but honestly, Dr. Tims is the only one I've ever used that I felt like worked as expected.

Yeah. My sand is turning a bit brown. And I have a tiny bit of cyano coming back already. Ughhh
