Hello,
First I simply can’t imagjne what your going through but I would maybe find something to help with stress and anxiety. We all make much better decisions when that is not a factor. As people know (me from on here ) I love my tank as my children (my fish are my kiddos lol). But as much as it would break my heart to see them perish in something like this, losing a friend is million times (actually you can’t place value on it) worse.
Sadly your safety and family most come first. Moving the critters maybe to a lfs may work. I doubt they will though because no promise they will even make it. If the power grid goes out, there isn’t much hope. I know they try to restore everything but one can never assume. I have never been in one yet, so far all the ones I read about seem to be different situations.
I would definitely add your fish tank to your home or renters insurance policy and don’t forget to add flood insurance. Now from my understanding some companies don’t cover things under acts of God or nature etc. but I have had friends go through this and lost everything. The fact they added flood insurance and insured their tank as what is termed a floater in my state, their company compensated them for 80% or the loss. Is it the same as what you had no, but it’s a start in the right direction and more than if you haven’t. I would add it now before anything starts to happen just to be safe.
Again there are no words that can define or cover what one may go through but losing a friend is unacceptable as to losing a tank. Yes I would be heart broken, I would cry forever and never forgive myself, but if my friends or family lose me, then I couldn’t fathom what they would go through and you could possibly lose the tank even if you stayed behind. You could try and take them, they could stress out and perish in front of you and stress you even more.
Like stated I can’t imagjne what your going through but we all value your as a person your life more than anything else (if you have family lol obviously they are included). Worse case I know I may not have any of the corals that you have or maybe some. But I’m more than happy to frag every coral that can be, and just send them to you once your tank is in good shape again or rebuilt if you lose everything.
Honestly I hate living in Idaho, but that is probably about the only few good things about it. There are no hurricanes or tornadoes, but we have fires non stop, and I would love to live on the coast. I would have to come to terms with myself and tank that if this happens it’s a possibility. But keep us posted and I wish you first to be safe and I hope nothing happens to your home, and your tank.
Sincerely
Sarah
