Update!!!

My family and I left town. We have made it to the N.C. mountains. The every live thing in my tank came with me. I brought my return pump and protein skimmer(to be used as a air stone.). However, I forgot my heater.(crap) pictures to follow.

We drove around 6hrs today. There’s only one fish I haven’t seen and that the starry blenny.

Great job! The battery power bubbler will be fine. Just hope u have prime and either dr Tim’s or stability. That cooler may still cycle. Not that your fish are your priority but mine were an obsession during irma ;)

Ride it out man!

I sucked out as much sand as I could and took all the live rock and the bioballs from the back of the tank and put them in the cooler. To prevent it from happening?? There is a inwall heater that I am using to keep the temp of the room around 73 degrees. Water is 76.6 degrees.

On another note. When you go home be mentally prepared. My first experience as a first responder was hurricane Charlie. The devastation of a cat 4 is something you need to understand. It's literally looks like the end of the world. It's surreal, I saw houses that looked like "doll houses" split down the middle, tables set up for dinner teerting on the edge of the drop off with cups still in there places. No birds no insects no ambient noise. People who stayed looked like they were shell schocked. Sorry for rambling but trust me steel yourself for the worst if it is a cat 4.

Glad you are in a safer place and good luck!

My water got down to 70 last year during IRMA before it was safe enough to get my heater/generator online.

Lol I'm color deficient which makes those master tests worthless for me, however you need to wait a few days and check. Get an ammonia test kit and a dKa test kit you are going bare minimum in an emergency and those two things are the most important. 78.4 is good but do yourself a favor and don't stress on numbers just look out for stressed critters and then worry.

Good luck once again and stay safe.

Please do not hesitate to ask we got to stick together it looks like you guys might be up here for a while. If anything you can use it for however long you need to put your critters in no worries! Just PM me and I will lend a hand. I got a korila and heaters and everything to get your guys through this

Thanks man! They are doing pretty in the cooler tbh. It’s holding temp very well. It’s got up to 82 over night but I have opened the one of the lids and it’s down to 79.3. And if need be I can open the garage door and then the cool air in. I’m pretty lucky I’m must say. Tanks again.

Becareful when traveling with fish and large pieces of coral in one container. I moved my 57 gallon tank inners to. 75 gallon from Md to Fl. The rocks shifted and beat up my marine betta, she did not make it. So glad to hear you, your family, and your tank family are safe! Good luck and well done!

Ok no worries if you need a tank for your fish I got one. I can bring everything to work and you can come get and use. Let me reiterate though I am not trying to sell you anything I am just offering a tank with proper filtration and heat and I am close to you. Hope your crib on the cost makes it ok!

Waynerock you are awesome to make this offer..WOW!

@Alexx17 I wish you and your family and neighbors the best of luck. As others have said a Cat 4 is no joke, and you guys did the right thing by evacuating. I lived on Ramrod Key, FL at this time last year. My neigborhood was one of the worst hit in the Florida Keys from Irma. We stayed because our house was a Cat 5 standard built house. We were fortunate in that our house did not suffer much damage, but our neighborhood was destroyed. We were without power for 28 days, and there was no gas to refill the generator. I kept my SPS tank going for a week, before I ran out of juice and lost it all. I'm glad you were able to take it with you! Be prepared for what you will return to. Here's some pictures from our neigborhood... We were the blue dot in the satellite image below...

They out Florence at a cat 2 rn. But it’s going to stall at the coast and cause freshwater flooding and storm surge. I’m not as much worried about the house being destroyed by wind but by the water and flooding. We about 1.4 miles the ocean., but I don’t think the storm surge is going to reach us. The rain is what I’m worried about. I have a lot friends and other people I care about that stayed.
