Hydros and BRS?

Hydros is expanding their product offerings so I would doubt they are going under…
BRS owns Apex Neptune (whatever it’s called) and they are probably trying to reduce competition… I get all my Hydros products from TSA.

The problem with hydros is that they release new units and gadgets too fast. You buy something now, next year they release the newer version and your unit is obsolete. Its been like this for the past 2-3 years, and I've gotten burned by buying equipment that is "discontinued support" within a few months. But they don't tell you when you buy., and they don't publish on their website everything they will release in the next 1-2-3 years, so you take a chance to buy their equipment.

BRS doesn't "own" (so to speak) Neptune, both are part of the same parent company Aperture pet and life along with Ecotech, AI and others.

They are not making anything obsolete. The controllers for Hydros are like modules on the other systems but with Hydros you can use each as stand alone or you can combine them in a collective. A collective acts like one large controller with all inputs and outputs of the member controllers. I currently have 15 of them in a collective. So they don't become obsolete you just add the new one to your current ones. I seem to run out of sense ports quicker than anything else. I have been adding to my collective since the Hydros came out and nothing I have got has been discontinued or support lost for any of it. Not sure what Hydros device you have that is no longer supported.

Soon BRS will only sell there own brands and products and those that are not direct competition

For me it was the dual pump controller, I bought it 3 years ago and it recently failed, so coralife support explained that the controller was discontinued support 2.5 years ago, so now I needed (and I did) buy the wave engine.
Thats my only example. If I could go back 3 years in time, I would obviously not buy the pump controller.

We came full-boar into the aquarium automation market, and our network of HYDROS Controls came along, culminating in the release of our flagship items...the Control X10 and LAUNCH. In the meantime, there is little product overlap, rather a variety of options of various ports needed for multiple aquarium jobs. You have seen our path, and it took a little to get there. However, there is NO "discontinued support"; in fact, NO HYDROS CONTROL WILL EVER GO OBSOLETE...because we have those command bus ports, linking to the whole system...a staple of what we call the HYDROS Collective.
We also do announce upcoming HYDROS Controls, such as the heads-up on the X10 months in advance and the recent MAVEN announcement, for consumers to prep, learn, and get started with HYDROS in the meantime. We also use tradeshows like Reef-A-Palooza and Aquashella to showcase new products coming to market, followed by videos and website updates.
I urge anyone to reach out to our support with questions, learn the HYDROS line, what it offers, and how we are taking this head on, which includes multiple HYDROS innovations, without the intention of product overlaps.
I have an original Hydros control 4 and control2 in the office that still work fine and interface with other modules. I am not sure what this discontinuing is about.
I think Mr. Mojo may be talking about the old IceCap gyre controller that used the Hydros App but wasn't a Hydros Item. The good news is you can still use the old controller; if it dies, you can use your old pumps with a wave engine without issue.

That’s what it looks like. Everything that’s completely sold out is changing to “discontinued by BRS” which typically means they don’t stock it anymore. It does NOT mean that any of those hydros products are actually discontinued.

If it was just a firmware update CoralVue will still do that if you contact them about that but if there is a harware failure the it is best to update. That controller is not a Hydros branded controller but the one that comes with those pump now is. It is a WELE and was specifically designed as the replacement for that controller so that the new controller can be a member of the Hydros collective and it still does what the older controller did and also can be in the collective. The WEv2 was the replacement for the original WE even though the original WE still can be used the WEv2 can also be a wifi master in a collective so basically it was to upgrade it into the Hydros. Both the original WE and the controller you had were out before the Hydros controllers came out. So that was done to integrate them into the Hydros controller family. I don't know of any of the Hydros controllers that were discontinued since originally the original wave engine and the dual controller you had were released well before the Hydros controllers. I kind of agree instead of repairing the old controller it would be better to replace it with the WELE since that can be a part of the Hydros collective if you get into the Hydros controller.
