Yes, I get it. But @Connor At CoralVue popped into this thread so it is an opportunity to get an answer straight from the vendor/manufacturer.That’s what it looks like. Everything that’s completely sold out is changing to “discontinued by BRS” which typically means they don’t stock it anymore. It does NOT mean that any of those hydros products are actually discontinued.
x2Seems like a good time to discontinue BRS....
What was the announcement?I think GHLs announcement makes it clear the direction Aperture heading......
Post #9 in this thread. What was the announcement?
Agreed, I order all my supplies from saltwateraquarium.com which imo is a much better option than BRS.BRS is a joke and so are the community "influencers" who shill for them. Stop supporting these people and this company.
x5. I’m leaning towards adapting hydros so this is a turn off. Not a fan of BRS current trajectory.
I’ve been debating on getting the Kraken or just the xp8 power bar… Kraken seems a little expensive for a power brick, but it would be nice to reduce the amount of bricks I have shoved into a cornerDarn, was looking at a Kraken, but they are out of stock.
I also think that is what they are talking about. IceCap and Hydros are both Coralvue brands. I had the IceCap controller you are talking about. Replaced it with a WaveEngine because I wanted the better wave functions in the WE. The WE was my first Hydros controller. I have since added an X4 and an X2. Love the Hydros system.I have an original Hydros control 4 and control2 in the office that still work fine and interface with other modules. I am not sure what this discontinuing is about.
I think Mr. Mojo may be talking about the old IceCap gyre controller that used the Hydros App but wasn't a Hydros Item. The good news is you can still use the old controller; if it dies, you can use your old pumps with a wave engine without issue.
You get the 8 force ports 24v and 4 drive ports 12v so you would be replacing 12 and 24v power supplies only. Any other voltage would require a DC to DC converter from 12-24v to the voltage needed since the force ports will only supply 12v when running on battery backup. That is the other reason is battery backup using a lead acid gel cell. The Kraken has a built in charger for the lead acid gel cells. If you use a different type of battery you would have to disable the charger in the Kraken and use a charger specific for the battery type you use. It really depends on the type of ports you need. XP8 for AC and Kraken for 24v DC and battery backup. Also all the Hydros power supplies for the controllers are 24v and can be powered using a Kraken force port. I power my X10's, XD and wave engine from force ports on a Kraken.I’ve been debating on getting the Kraken or just the xp8 power bar… Kraken seems a little expensive for a power brick, but it would be nice to reduce the amount of bricks I have shoved into a corner
