Hydros and BRS?

It works just fine on my 5ghz. I have a WEv2, X4, and X2 controller all on my Netgear Orbit 5GHZ only network. All of my other smart devices are on the 2.4ghz only. When ever I have a power outage the 2.4ghz AP comes online before the internet router comes back online and does not keep checking for the internet to come back online and it will just stay offline until I power cycle it after I get home. The Orbit watches for the internet router to come back online and once it does it reestablishes the connections. So the result is my Hydros gear all comes back online as soon as internet is restored but the rest of my smart devices stay offline until I get home to power cycle the AP. I should put the AP on one of my Hydros power strips so I can just reset the power from my Hydros from work and not have to wait until I get home. I think I will look into that.

There is none that I am aware of, why would you want a wired connection anyway, their controllers connect to WI-FI.
Because they don't run a 2.4ghz network and Hydros documentation says it requires 2.4ghz. But the hydros gear works just fine on my 5ghz.

BRS such a staple in this hobby being sold out to corporate ties is a sad thing. Can't say I'm surprised though.

I see this and then watch a Paul Cuffaro video where Top Shelf Aquatics is bragging about a coral with 90 heads that are like $1000 a head, and they are just laughing it up.. Ha Ha Ha.. the only loser here is the consumer.

It's the way this hobby is going.

Sounds like SaltwaterAquarium.com is going to be getting a lot more business as Aperture(BRS) tries to push out its competition from BRS

I wonder how long Ryan sticks around

I'm definitely going with Hydros and Coralvue in general.

I love the underdog

Don't forget- AMD was the gut check that stopped Intel's crap in the early 00s.

What happens when a new underdog comes along? Do you jump ship to them?

I guess some places 5G doesn't work, I have my X4 and XP8 running on 5G no problems, and I have Bluetooth incase of power outage, I use Spectrum for my internet company.

No, I am not. I have two separate networks. A 2.4ghz networks and a separate 5ghz network. Each network has a separate and distinct SSID. I am a network engineer. I know what the heck I am doing, and I am NOT broadcasting both on the same SSID. Did you not read all that I said? How I said I had a separate 2.4ghz ONLY AP and posted a link to the 2.4ghz AP????

My Hydros is connected to my 5GHZ SSID which is a distinct SSID from my separate 2.4ghz SSID on a separate AP. I think I know what I am doing a heck of a lot more than you know what I am doing.

Triggered warning geese its just the internet

You flat out accused me of doing X when I flat out said I was doing Y. You know what happens when you assume right????

I'm curious: How many of the posters that are up in arms over BRS making a financial decision to sell their business, at what they perceived as their peak operating range, to a Private Equity firm (which for those not in business' is a fantastic exit strategy when you have none planned) are pontificating from a device which ALSO benefited from such a transaction?

What is commonly lost in the world of consumerism is that a business needs to have an exit strategy otherwise when it has run its course, the only option is to die on the vine. I do not fault anyone with ownership in BRS prior to the Bertram/Aperture sale for doing so, nor do I think that APL integrating products is inherently terrible. Does nobody here not realize that's what automotive groups have been doing for decades? GM? Toyota? Stellantis? Volkswagen? I don't see anyone being up in arms that Dodge no longer "sells" RAM trucks. In my mind, it makes more business sense to offer three tiers of products for your consumers to choose from, and in doing so re-evaluating some existing vendor relationships.

Bulk Reef Supply is NOT Coral Vue. Coral Vue is NOT Bulk Reef Supply. BRS not selling Hyrdos products anymore should not be a reason for people to abandon Neptune Systems products.
Bulk Reef Supply is NOT Neptune Systems. Neptune Systems is NOT Bulk Reef Supply. BRS selling Neptune Systems products should not be a reason someone squats on Apex.

People need to separate the brand from the retailer and realize that this situation is no different than shopping at Aldi and buying their "Clancy" brand chips while complaining that they can't find them at <insert appropriate grocer here>.

@BrokenReefer
I agree with your perspective. The notion that consumers must select sides seems to be rooted in marketing strategies. Individuals often exhibit preferences for specific car manufacturers, beverages, sports teams, etc.

Similar to your stance, I contend that this topic isn't a consumer-driven issue. Rather, it is a tactic employed by brands to leverage their customer base in order to secure a more advantageous bargaining position.

However, consumers rarely recognize this underlying dynamic. Through effective marketing, we're encouraged to express brand loyalty and develop a false sense of brand ownership. Consequently, we seldom question the reasons behind our strong attachments to particular brands, why should I care about Ford? Why should I care about the Miami Dolphins? Why should I care about CoralVue.

Unless an individual has a direct vested interest in a brand, there's generally no reason for such intense loyalty.

All you needed at the end there is **** drops the mic and walks away ****

:) Hope your day is going well.

BRS is not CoralVue, but it is Neptune.

Technically, they are separate companies. BRS is not Neptune. BRS sells Neptune products and they just happen to have the same parent company.

CoralVue is Hydros and Hydros is CoralVue though

Thanks, ok it sounds like hydros works on the 5GHz network. I guess I will try to call coravue customer support or email them to ask them to clarify and update their FAQ page.

Sounds like they may have updated them to work on 5ghz because they certainly didn't early on. I would absolutely contact CoralVue directly to get clarification.

I had nothing but issues with their wifi chips and my network. I even bought a dedicated 2.4ghz AP that Carlos told me to get. It never solved the issues and my IT/ISP buddy found it to be the wifi chips that Hydros used.

One stop shop now has one less stop which makes no sense since that stop will continue competing elsewhere.

I wonder if Coralvue would give us free shirts to wear at Reef a Palooza? I would hang out by aperture all day wearing it. Ill be there for Reef a Palooza New York, I'm 45 minutes away. Anyone else game?

I'll be there! Can't wait to see the Coralvue booth
