Hydros and BRS?

Randy left because he didn't like the direction the company is was going.
I think Ryan going on Hiatus is telling too. I bet he doesn't come back.

Also it was not just Hydros it was a ton of stuff discontinued or clearanced.
Where was Ryan going on hiatus announced? I've noticed they have posted a lot less content on YouTube lately. A lot less interesting stuff too.

Too corporate now... not personal... CORPORATE GREED... . All about money. Not the employees or the customers, I know.. I'm in supermarket retail. Look at food prices. Look what's happening to Disney the happiest place on earth, Not so Happy.

My apex stopped turning on after a power outage and it took 3 weeks from the time I contacted them to get the unit back. Apparently the SD card became corrupted and it cost me $53 plus shipping to and from to get a fix. In the 3 weeks I switched to hydros, and it's a learning curve but so far it's much simpler and better.

Also the trident is a point of sale, I had it for a year before my skimmer overflowed and destroyed it but in that year it was constantly needing something. clear a clog, random lights, random no tests in 24 hours errors. honestly I was kinda happy it flooded.

I also haven't bought from BRS in a long time, I use a local online vendor who personally delivers to my house the same or next day (Clear Choice Aquatics in NJ). BRS used to have interesting videos but I came to realize it was all just a sales pitch, which is to be expected from a company but none of the products were actually needed.

This might clear things up for you.

So BRS is a subsidiary of Aperture and moving to selling only products from Aperture subsidiaries. Sounds a lot like Thai Union Group forcing Red Lobster to sell products from their Thai Union subsidiaries……. Hope BRS doesn’t start an unlimited shrimp deal next.

Cant get discount on bundle. It was sold out this morning. Octo pulse and wave engine. Greed Shame on BRS

I wonder if Coralvue would give us free shirts to wear at Reef a Palooza? I would hang out by aperture all day wearing it. Ill be there for Reef a Palooza New York, I'm 45 minutes away. Anyone else game?
What would the shirt say?

"I ain't nobody's puppet!"

Haha

BRS has all Hydros on clearance. Everything selling fast. IS Hydros going under or just BRS discontinuing?
This is Big, BRS dropping red hot Hydros, BRS is the Biggest saltwater hobby supply business in the world, I wonder how this will have an effect on the rest of the industry if any.

Seems like a good time to discontinue BRS....
Don't really need to, for me, they have been doing it to themselves. I find myself searching other sites for the items I need. Like the Hanna Alkalinity reagent - BRS $15.00 SaltwaterAquarium.com - $12.75.

I’ve been debating on getting the Kraken or just the xp8 power bar… Kraken seems a little expensive for a power brick, but it would be nice to reduce the amount of bricks I have shoved into a corner
Same struggle I have had. My 2 MP10s are 24v and my 2 radions are 24v, that's why I was considering the Kraken. But I can't justify the price difference without some big sale on the Kraken, since I'd still have other devices running off AC I need to accommodate. So I'm about to pull the trigger on the XP8.

As BRS tries to disengage from competitors of their parent company, it will be interesting to see what happens with Reef Octopus and Kamoer, for which CoralVue is the sole US distributor. It is likely that CoralVue will lose some of its exclusivity and control. One would have to believe Aperture will use all leverage to close their relationship with CoralVue, as the working relationship with CoralVue will likely deteriorate significantly. BRS cannot walk away from Reef Octopus skimmers. Potentially a significant hit to the CoralVue pocketbook....we'll see?

Ultimately all these powerplays will not be good for the consumer.

Aperture exclusively distributes these brands.

Didn't know about Aquaforest. I don't really use their stuff.

D-D is David Saxby's company. They list a ton of products... I'm not sure what their affiliation with each of these is. I thought they make Rowa and Deltec?

Personally, I am just going to avoid Aperture brands. It won't be difficult for me (other than MP40s).

I am still considering the Hydros controllers, which one has a wired ethernet connection?

He shared that info in a live a few months back. He will be speaking at 2 more RAP shows this year but he is done with YouTube for 2024 and my bet is likely done for good
