Is SBreeflight still in business?

They are having some growing pains. Reworking the email contact system, emails were getting lost iirc. Local phone company issues as well. Mike was in the hospital a few times. He's at macna with new products currently. Sbreef is only going up from here.

I hope so

I have one of their lights on my coral QT... works well. But, I'm amazed at how people are so willing to make excuses for this company's obviously terrible customer service! People on here tear into other companies for such other minor incidents...but for some reason this service is acceptable with this company.

I really don't care what new products are coming out at MACNA from this place if they can't support the products they already have! The company has been established long enough for the owner to have fixed such terrible service... it's obvious by all the comments on here from those being ignore by this guy that he has no interest in helping his current customers... after that check clears, you're on your own. Thank goodness they have a 2 great warranty since that's how long it takes them to respond.

It’s certainly been an interesting case to watch unfold. I am local to Mike and he has been very helpful to me and strives to do what he can to make sure others experience success in the hobby.

From my perspective, they blew up too fast and didn’t ever build the foundation for the all important customer service. He started out with group buys of altered spectrum black boxes in a Facebook group which ended up with a strong demand. This led to the launch of SB Reef lights and where he planned on selling a couple lots of the lights, turned into wayyy more than they were expecting. I believe he anticipated being able to fix any warranty issues himself as I used to always see him working on them when I would go to the shop. Many more lights sold and with this success, they opened up a LFS that oddly doesn’t sell the lights. He had to move the lfs to where it is now a year or so ago so that was a heavy lift too.
I have seen him post that he is starting a support team for the lights which may help with the issues outlined in this thread.
I hope they do get it ironed out because they are a great budget light that produces good results.

First time I walked into the place, I was surprised by this too. I've had a lot of trouble with some of the LEDs I am currently using, so I probably would have done an impulse buy by now if I could just get a sBox locally.

Would be awesome if anyone present at MACNA could appeal or voice this to him. It is apparent that he has many more concerned or dissatisfied customers than he realizes. This is a small industry with a large voice and may not realize self-destruction occurring here.

Dude, he knows... hahahahahah!!!

I only met him one time and he seems like a nice enough guy. However, I imagine that would still be an uncomfortable conversation to have. Like when I tell a LFS owner that I can see velvet on some of his fish. :p I'm just trying to help!

Agree, I think the only way to bring up a problem in a forum like that is “hey so I’ve been having this problem contacting the shop [insert problem], is there any way you could help me with that?”

I placed an order for two new lights fromSBReef on 09/04/18 and didn't get any notifications or informational updates. I contacted SBReef via email [9/11/18] asking to either give a status update, or refund my money and I would purchase from another company.

On 9/13 I got an email saying that my order was processed.

This doesn't give me faith that if I order from them in the future that my order wouldn't be "missed" or set aside. I can only imaging how much longer I would have gone without any communication regarding my order if I hadn't emailed them asking for a refund 8 days after placing my order and paying for the lights.

I have used SBReeflights in the past, and my wife wanted to go with them again due to the results that we saw previously coupled with their price point, but i'm starting to wonder whether the cost savings is worth the hassle of zero communication. Luckily I never had any issues with my other light, but if I do run into issues I hope that they handle their service and warranty support better than they do processing/shipping out new orders.

I’m still waiting on emails and phone calls from a year ago. I have lost any and all faith in their company.
Do their lights work? Yes
Are they worth the lack of customer service and poor at best communication? NO

I was looking into a certain turf scrubber as well until I saw who made the light for them lol. It’s been months. Last few weeks I d been calling every lunch break to get through multiple times. 3rd week in a row I’ve called got same employee ( although very understanding and nice) have been told I would of been sent an invoice for the parts I want. STILL WAITING!

I placed an order for lights earlier this week, and was curious about the status. Been stuck on "processing in progress" for 4 days. Site shows 908 lights in stock. Which seems like a very high number. Phone number constantly busy. Maybe i'm just being impatient, but after reading this has me concerned.

I just got my first electronic response from them on the fb support group. They hired a FT customer service agent. Unfortunately I have a special case between sbreef and the manufacturer so it’s not a clear cut issue I guess. They told me I would get an update last night or tomorrow morning...But usually when people say I’ll update you later..takes me making another phone call..:(

I got a fb message last night telling me to send an email to the email on the site ( which I did already). Replied that I did several times already, actually 3 over the last 4 weeks and then got the response most have been saying. A lot has been going on, small family business. I sent requested email with the subject of what they said to name it and has been 24 hours now with no invoice sent still.

So you had to name the email something special or it won’t get answered? Are you waiting on an order you placed already.

Yeah, I referenced my order and didn’t really matter. So I just copied and pasted my email into the chat. I imagine this person just got hired and is trying to figure the logistics out.

They should be pretty good at handling your guys questions... they had over 3 months of training!!! Hahahahahahah

I did get my shipping notice this weekend, so it was less than a week turnaround. So I was little impatient there. My only concern is the website says the light ships from Pensacola, but the shipping tracking clearly shows it shipping from Hong Kong directly to me.

Finally got an invoice for the remote And now my white channels acting up. Can’t win. I’ll keep ya informed how long the turnaround after payment is. Payed last night or day before, can’t rememsbr
