JBJ 30 RL - My first reef tank!

New addition

All my params stayed pretty consistent. 420 CA, 1300 MG, 8.6-9.2 KH, PH 8.2, temp 78, nitrate not detected, Phos .04

I have lost some SPS in my system from what I thought was RTN. Same look too, I was told it could be from a spike in water temp.

I have a chiller, my temp range, over past 4 weeks is 75-79, and those were not sudden changes. Avg temp is 78

I'll take a guess, if you say or are confident in your parameters, that maybe it was flat worms or those zoa spiders. Seems strange that two different species of coral that can tolerate different influxes in water parameters would just die off. Usually sps dies because of Alk or Ph drops. Zoanthids are typically harder to kill. However Phosphates have more of an effect on them. Maybe improper dipping allowed for an invasive species to kill them off. Just a suggestion.

It was/is odd. I dip with coral RX and Revive. Things were looking great with new polyps and encrusting, etc. I do have a hair algae, so have been trying to battle phos issues. The only change I can remember making before this happened was adding IM media reactor running biopellets, and stopping RedSea NOPOx. Just frustrating as this is all new to me.

tank looks great! any updates? I have a jbj 30 myself and am pretty happy with it

I recently took it down as i just moved into our new home. I was having a lot of issues with it as well. I am anxious to get it back up and to also apply some lessons learned. JBJ 30 RL v2 coming soon. lol
