JBJ 30 RL - My first reef tank!

I was out of the hobby for about 8 years but 1 month ago ordered the jbj 45 from Dr foster and Smith too 3 times but got one not broken the 3rd time. Love mine.a little more reckless if a set up. Jbj sk 45 skimmer and the media baskets it came with reef breeders led. Will be Newby fish load wroth softies, a clam star fish and shrimp.

I also too the glass off and did a screen under 30 bucks got materials to build 2.but now a lot more evaporation so I have to figure out hot to put a auto top off behind the tank in the whole.

[/QUOTElove the spot for your tank and of course your observer , I purchased the 30 jbj and it came scratched on the front of the glass so I called them and they are sending a new one, can't wait to set it up but I have a feeling I'm going to wish I ordered the 45 gallon as well.

What are these white formations on the back of my tank? Up close they are spiral shaped.

I forget what it's called but it's normal. It's sort of the same as coralline algebra I believe

no they aren't you can buy them from your LFS just a hitch hiker that was on your live rock

Same thing happened to me. Bought a purple bonsai acro, 2 maybe 3 months later dead. Later I realized my hand held eye piece refractometer may have been as much as 3ppt off.

I dipped in Coral RX and that seemed to have slowed if not stopped the progression. I will recalibrate my refractometer to make sure that isn't the issue.
