Jeabo dc water pump

I have had my Dc6000 for close to 2 years now. it ran at 100% in a closed loop for 9 months and now at about 60% for 18 months. it started to get loud so I cleaned it and since then the tank is super silent. I love this pump and it has worked extremely well for me.

as for longevity, still out in the weeds so to speak so I dont know how long it will last. I just replaced a pair of 3 year old WP40s after one failed. the other is now a mixing pump

You have been around this issue for quite some time. Nevermind your history with the pumps. Is it fair to say that the Jebao controllers and power supplies are "unlikely to fail because they are solid state?" Twillard is acting as though there is not a record of these parts failing on Jebao pumps. I guess becasue they are solid state, the claims of them failing are not valid.

I know your head has not been stuck in the sand when it comes to the history of Jebao reliability issues as well as threads on other reefing forums regarding this and other Jebao made (Waveline - first and second gen, Reef Octopus - first gen, Speedwave, ect...)pumps.

For the extra couple bucks get the 12000 i got one on a 450l run it at the 3rd speed bigger the better i have the option to run all sorts of equipment from it , just to play safe replace after 2 years

Ok guys didn't know this was a debate thread.
I recognize people who thrives on arguing.
Jebao pumps are just fine :-)
My helix 5000 skimmer by Orphek uses the same rebranded jebao pump.. hmm

Gcarroll, I know you are not a Jebao fan and I have nothing against the points you make for not using them. They are valid points. But as with all equipment we stick in our tanks, there will inevitably be a point of failure. whether it is the new Vortec pumps, MP's (I see lots of failures posted on the wet and dry sides) Jebaos, Aquailluminations, Reef Breeders, Tunze or any of the other multitude of brands.

the Power supplies sent to me from Fish street were laptop style power supplies that came with multiple tips and were adjustable voltage. This was for some of the Very first edition of the Wp40. these bricks are still in good shape and provide power. what failed on one of the WP40 I had was the pump itself. it just quit turning the impeller. Not sure why and I havent cracked it open.

The Power supply on the DC6000 is pretty much just that as well. a 110 volt Ac to 24 volt DC converter. yea, probably a cheap one, but these are very run of the mill anyways. it seems to be working as it was designed. as for the Internals on the DC pumps, I am not an electrical engineer and thus dont have any technical knowledge except to know that they are basically electo magnets that change polarity and cause the impeller ( that is seperated from them by a plastic housing) to spin. I am sure there is more to them than that. as for the controllers, I dont use the Jebao controllers wit my old WP40 and now my new WP25 because I have them hooked to my Archon via APC module. I do use the DC6000 controller and use the feed mode when I do maintenance.

For me, the piece of equipment I most worry and actually see fail are heaters. Oh yea, I had a Koralia fail in my fuge and about kill my tank as it started to leak voltage.

Man, I remember the days when Jebao was Jebo. they made some really crappy things. I had a 48" power compact Jebo light back in the day. What a piece of junk.

I guess you are right. If you can't form an argument for your standpoint, it can't be a debate.

I don't speak negatively about Orphek products anymore. They have drastically improved their products and stand behind them since the previous lying knuckleheads distributing their products were replaced by Scott! Scott alone is responsible for all of their current success here in the US!

Thanks for spelling it out! I make points to warn others. Not saying not to use it! I truly don't want to be the one that said I told you so. People should to their diligent research when choosing products to care for their pets. A simple google search would serve some people really well in that research.

And this goes for everypump thats in saltwater and every single piece of equipment thats in saltwater, it is going to crapout intime, yea sure theres alot of bad reviews or what not but look at everyother pump, ive ben using thos3 bs jabeo returns for like 8 years and prob had 1 just stop working cause i didnt clean it, for the money and quality of the pump its 1000 percent worth it

Returns and dosing pumps are the most important you dont go cheap on cause they will ruin your whole tank but the worst that could happen is it will stop working just like everyother pump, beside a mj i had blowup in my nano witch i will never use again lol

For someone who cannot afford the top of the line brand, the jebao do the job for an affordable price. Bottom line. If I couldn't afford a vortec should I not be in the hobby?

The jebao pumps are practically bullet proof.
Just like any other pump in this world keep them clean, keep water off the controller, and allow proper ventilation for the power supply and then good to go!

I just bought a DCT-6000 and ran my first sump test with it. It appeared to be very quiet and put up a lot of flow even at 50% output. I decided to give it a shot since I'm just starting out with a brand new tank setup. Since I can buy three or four of these for the price of one Vortec, I may just purchase another one as a spare backup pump. So far, I can't complain about the value proposition.

In my reading of this and other forums the threads speaking of failure of a mp wetside or dry side vs a jaebao rw are at least 2:1. Same for gyre. I hear the broken gyre story always.

Most complaints against jaebao I hear revolve around something like,"I thought it was China crap, bought the bigger one now my sand is EVERYWHERE. "

Please find me a lot of bad reviews on Eheim return pumps. How about Fluval Sea pumps?

You have been using Jebao returns for 8 years. Really? C'mon. Really 8 years?

Excuse me sir, you bought a dct_6000 for how much liter tank?[emoji4]

Boy, that time still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Ugh; it was bad.

Bottom line. If I couldn't afford a vortech should I not be in the hobby?
I don't think that's quite the point here.
But relatedly, I am frequently amazed by the number of hobbyists who buy cheaper alternatives on equipment being "cost conscious", yet splurge hundreds and thousands on livestock.

Why as members of R2R do we have to debate such a simple OP question.
