I wouldn't buy an iPhone period. I'm a tech guy and see what they have in them and how much they cost and Android surpasses them

Marketing is far from my domain, but Apple seems to do just fine with a high cost product. You can't underestimate the value of a brand name. I think Apple still makes the most expensive phones (at least mainstream ones) and they have 44% market share. I don't know what makes someone buy a product, heck I don't know what makes me buy a product.
Not sure what to tell you about what I knew when I bought them other than what I have. I must admit I don't check out the ITC or USPTO website before I buy anything in my personal life. I sure do in my professional one when the purchase is large. I looked at reviews where I bought them and they spoke about issues with reliability, but no mention of infringement issues.I find it difficult to believe you did not know about Jebao powerheads befor buying. It was well documented long before they were available to purchase in the USA about the similarities to the Tunze and Ecotech. But it is what it is, perhaps you didn't know. However to say that your "sickened" by the fact that you "have enabled the furtherance of Jebao's ability to do this" while still running them in your tank is a bit hypocritical wouldn't you say?
Just went with a product that is well known.... How about this one instead... KitchenAid stand mixers....? Apply the same logic but replace the product with a mixer. The problem with using smart phones here as a way of comparing is not quite the same. For the most part people don't pay full price for a phone. Most don't even consider the price of a phone when getting it they just look at it as part of the plan package. anyway enough about phones. This is why I stated that while it was difficult for me to believe, perhaps you didn't know.
If I owned one of the Samsung smartphones that was found to infringe on Apple's patents would you tell me to throw it away?QUOTE]
Would I ask you to throw it away? Not at all.
But I would ask that you not call me with it to tell me how sickened you were by the fact
The experience is with the company. There has been enough inferior products from that company that it shouldn't take a whole lot of common sense to believe they will continue producing inferior products. It doesn't sound like they had any experience with the crossflow. I wouldn't call it bias by experience. The author was bashing the product without using it.
From what I see customers are more satisfied with Jebao the Maxspect. While Jebao might use cheap products so does Maxspect. Jebaos are pretty reliable.
I don't really care which product is better. the article was so poorly written and very speculative. if they tried the Jebao and then gave an honest review that's fine. Reef Builders should not be criticizing a product that they did not handle.

I don't get this opinion. Why do you "deserve" anything? A bunch of kids in a single income family doesn't mean you deserve anything it just means that you have a little tougher time paying for the same products some single guy with no kids and a high income can afford. Do you go around buying all stolen stuff because it is cheaper and you feel you deserve it?Firstly I don't think that maxspect 130 is too badly priced, now the vortech pumps are coming down. You know why? Because of similar options that are considerably less expensive. I personally understand the upset that comes from having so ething stolen from me, I've been robbed. In my opinion you folks that paid peak prices for the vortech pumps have been robbed and that's why you are upset. I have five (yes five) kids and my wife is still stay at home, I make about 40k a year and reef is my hobby. I think people like myself deserve an affordable option, don't hate.

(sarcasm and a joke)Which part of your example includes IP theft?Listen, do you guys ever buy macaroni and cheese? No? I do. Maybe I don't know who invented boxed macaroni and cheese, but I do know when I go to Walmart there are several options from Velveeta all the way to shoppers value and Kraft. Velveeta is obviously superior to many so they get that, 3.00 a box maybe. Then you have Kraft and shoppers value, noodles shaped the same, identical prep instructions and similar end result. If I buy shoppers value am I in fact stealing from Kraft?
What exactly are you meaning by this?I don't get this opinion. Why do you "deserve" anything? Sarasa is upset that Jake made this statement without holding the inferior products in his hand. Called it speculation as if speaking from experience is a bad thing.Of course they produce inferior products, that's partly why its so much cheaper. And I'm at peace with that. Until my house/tank catches on fire I'll be perfectly happy with my Jebao pumps. Including the new crossflow when it launches.
You don't remember those threads because when the Maxspect pump was released you didn't recognize it as blatant rip off of another product. Absolute, clear as day IP rip off. I also don't remember seeing any Maxspect products where they steal innovation from another company and then come to market at a price point looking to chop the legs off the competition. To be fair, when the Maxspect Gyre was released it too had its fair share of issues. In fact in reading that ReefBuilders article many of the issue they speculate the Jebao to have were the very same issues Maxspect had. I don't remember any kill Maxspect threads going around. And again to be fair many of those issues seem to have been resolved. But that does not change that fact that Maxspect rushed an inferior product to market and then dealt with the problems at a later date.
A lot of the people willing to continue to buy Jebao monthly and annually to replace the broken products do themselves and their tanks a disservice. I haven't met anyone that enjoys taking time away from their family, away from enjoyment of looking at the tank to pull broken hardware out on a regular basis. Friends of mine go through this process regularly and they tell me it is just the cost of the hobby. No it isn't. Buy something of quality and spend your time enjoying the tank instead of repairing it.My grandmother used to say "Buy quality once. Buy cheap stuff many times over. Which one is less expensive in the long run?" And this generally holds true for me for the 38 years of aquarium keeping.
U know, some people can't afford as much as others, and by calling the people who buy the knockoffs cheap and bad people is saying your superior...well news flash, ur not no matter how much you think you are.
I would say that you are supporting theft and crime because positively impacts your bottom dollar. I am referring merely to the financial aspect of what you are doing. This is saying that anyone who bought the product is stealing, that is saying that the buyer is a theft and criminal, and that is looking down. Whether you want to believe it or not. And when it comes to your iPhone analogy, that is incorrect it just means we spend less money on a different phone.....
I would suggest you open your eyes and use a little common sense. Do you think, based on the response Maxspect provided, Maxspect actually handed over all their drawings and models to Jebao and told them to have at it?I have yet to see any fact proving that they stole this idea
