Hey guys I was so impressed with this pump last night that I made a vid. Will try to update a comparison with the WP-25 soon. If you have this pump or have had it, what do you think about it? Any issues? Let us know!

I found the WP-40 to be too powerful for my 100G with a Southdown DSB so now am running two WP-25's, one running at 50% and the other a 75%. The sand still shifts a little but is manageable.
I love the things and am glad I waited for the newest 1F controller with the S1, S2 and S3 functions.

I have done testing on both sizes with a Kill A Watt meter and have some side by side photos with a Hydor Evolutions 1400 (1400, 1050, 750, 550, all the same size) and a Hydor Evolutions Nano 425 (same size as the 240) for comparisons. The 40 is big but the 25 is smaller than the 1400 with better performance.

Love mine so far just hope it holds up. Rocks my 215g. Thinking about adding 2 WP25 to back glass for additional flow.

Agree. Also a lot of pumps can be louder at full throttle. Running them lowered does not push them as hard

I just got a pair of 40 in one of my prop tanks and I like them a lot.

Good question, why do they run them at lower speeds? When if you went out and spent half that money, you could have gotten quite a few other full speed powerheads. Don't get me wrong, Im not knocking the powerhead, I don't understand throwing money out the window for a powerhead that comes at a certain speed, and not utilizing it.

The two biggest advantages that come to mind are controllability and cost. The WP is around $60 -$80 WITH a controller and the ability to change wave pulses, frequency and strengths plus night time and feeding modes is amazing. I also have pics I will post tomorrow comparing the physical size of an Evolutions 1400 (1050, 750 and 550 since they are all the same body) and a WP-25 and Evolutions Nano 425(and 240 since they are the same body) and the WP-25 kicks the heck out of the Evo 1400 for less money including the controller, which the Evo does not come with, at about half the physical size. Then they are DC powered so safer than an AC powered pump in saltwater applications.

Ok. But now your not comparing apples to apples here. When most of the Hydors can't be controlled because of the start up issues and they are AC. So lets compare apples to apples here.
Have you compared those powerheads to the Hydor DC Controllables?

I have the same question about people's led lighting systems.... Why have all these leds and only run them at 30-50%? Smh

Still much cheaper than the Koralia DC pumps and you do not have to buy the separate controller. Best of all the adjustability isn't even close with the Koralias and the physical size is about half as big or smaler for the same maximum flow rates but with many more flow steps in between, not just stopped or wide open but 6 or 8 steps at variable times of frequencies. One WP can actuall create 2-3" high waves all by itself even when it is 6" under the surface they are so powerful. Not even similar at all.

Go by Carlos's shop in Tempe on 5th St and see them for yourself.

When you're right, you are just right. For the bucks, nothing comes close to the WP 40 and WP25, and yes they have not been out for years yet. So impossible to comment on their quality at least yet. But everyone who seems to get them, says exactly the same thing--awesome. Just getting ready to list my tunze 6105's and controller

Funny, I can't believe somebody with your experience can ask such a silly question.

I have a 2400gph sump pump feeding thru a SCWD and exiting into the tank via 2 spray bars behind the LR wall. The reason, to create some randomness to the flow in the tank. I have a 2400gph CL that feed the tank thruan OM4 with Revolution heads. The reason, to create some randomness to the flow in the tank. Now I have a WP40 running at 3/4 power and will soon switch to 2 wp25's that will run on timers so the run opposite each other for 5-6 hours and together for 2--3 hours in an alternating cycle (sort of like the tides). The reason, to create some randomness to the flow in the tank. The wp40 has been running 24/7 for 4+ months and worked perfectly. It's because the wp40 have worked so well and cost so little that I got the wp25's! Random flow in the tank is a very good thing. Constant flow powerheads is old school.

We're comparing exactly what you wanted to compare. A WP model with a pump set at a constant output. That's what you asked for but then say its not what you asked for.......

These wave makers look fantastic on youtube!!!. Do you think the wp25 would be to much for a 65gal cube?? 24x24x27. I also have a standard 55 gal.
