Tell me how are we protecting anything when we really look closer at the subject

So should there not be any oversight? Do you want deregulation? It's not an easy fix when a huge portion of the human population lives along rivers, lakes and shoreline.

Take a look about farming crops to produce more food. Let's never assess whether there's a better way to farm than how we did it in the stone age. Who cares about the environment? It affects nobody and never will. We have nothing to do with it....I just wanna double check...we don't have anything to do with the environment, do we?

Supporting the limiting of fertilizer and pesticide use by,

The dumping of yard waste (tree limbs, grass, etc) in,

The out right ban of sewage discharge (treated or not) into canals.

I'm sorry to say this but isn't it because we have regulations to keep things from falling into a state of disrepair that supports keeping animals from the wild? Is it bad that poaching elephants for ivory is illegal? It would make more sense to illegalize wild fish collection if there were no oversight.

New Jersey guy here......If you dig deep enough you will find out who owns the companies (and making 100's of millions $), doing the sonar maping. Then you will understand why there is such a big push for solar farms off our coast. Can you say shadow companies????
it's ashame that the people in our country are incapable of being able to do any kind of critical thinking. If they where they would realize the whole green energy push is all about Blackrcok and Vanguard being the puppet masters.

No my concerns are some people turn a blind eyes too things going on in are seas what should be banned but aren’t due to making too much money. Tons of fish dumped over board dead because they have there limit . Drugs with anti depression and pain killers in are fish due too sewage leaking into are sea never solve the problem just fined . Dredging for Scollops with chain nets dragged along the sea bottom destroying everything in its way as I see it some protection imo . Chemicals running off farmers fields into the sea killing the environment beneath the sea . Out of sight out of mind .Now let start about are hobby should we be buying everything captive bred if we are protecting the environment and what lives in it . Corals / fish / critters . Some people say they are for the protection but want wild corals / fish . I actually support some things they protect but when you look closer at things going on are they really got it all covered.

If you want the honest answer, nobody knows the complete consequences of many actions they make. Perhaps you changed your oil in your car but didn't tighten the bold all the way. It drips out. Or you took the old oil to a shop you believed would dispose of it properly...they didn't. You buy a diamond ring for your wife. Do you know what the process of getting that diamond was? You can be cautious but you will never fully know. Try your best is all you can do.

Am I? I work at an antiquated fish hatchery that only recently started to manage fish waste the proper way.

Some folks want to shut domesticated trout hatcheries down, focus all efforts on wild species, which still would fall short of consumer desires.

Still comes down to money...the world revolves around it.

I do jest about elephants, troll post, expect that from a fisherman.

I would like Reefers to start by accepting coral are animals, and not "pieces" made to be collected. Then build on that idea toward sustainability and conservation of the ocean. But it's a tough sell in a money driven world.

I'm old enough to remember what the air smelled like in the 70's when all vehicles were carburated and lead gas was the norm. No emissions standards and you could not see very far do to smog. If you're younger just watch a 70' movie filmed in LA . As far as the air smell for the younger crowed, if you have ever been behind a classic car on the road and smelled the exhaust, imagine that was all you smelled all day every day.
