Just a Rant about environment agency lovers

I would like Reefers to start by accepting coral are animals, and not "pieces" made to be collected. Then build on that idea toward sustainability and conservation of the ocean. But it's a tough sell in a money driven world.
As a naturalist, it’s easy for me to connect with value of all life forms.

The materialism of elevating coral designer names and the expense of Reefing has concerned me for years.

Instead of focus on education , it seems that the Reefing hobby has focused on how much technology & money it takes to be a reefer. In The Natural Aquarium, John Tullock summed up my attitude on marine aquarium with “Less technology/More biology”

Debunking the myth that reef aquariums need to be wildly expensive and technologically complex, John Tullock offers a new, radically simple approach to producing beautiful, captive microcosms.
Using live rock and live sand as part of a natural filtration system, the home aquarist can now create vibrant reef tanks that are biologically stable and simple to maintain.

With Tullocks suggestions, the reefkeeper can now mimic natural habitats such as a Florida Keys Lagoon, a Caribbean Turtle Grass Flat, an Indo-Pacific Deep Cave, or a Red Sea Patch Reef. With more than 200 color photographs and illustrations, Natural Reef Aquariums provides inspiration for both beginning and expert marine reef hobbyists.

No my concerns are some people turn a blind eyes too things going on in are seas what should be banned but aren’t due to making too much money. Tons of fish dumped over board dead because they have there limit . Drugs with anti depression and pain killers in are fish due too sewage leaking into are sea never solve the problem just fined . Dredging for Scollops with chain nets dragged along the sea bottom destroying everything in its way as I see it some protection imo . Chemicals running off farmers fields into the sea killing the environment beneath the sea . Out of sight out of mind .Now let start about are hobby should we be buying everything captive bred if we are protecting the environment and what lives in it . Corals / fish / critters . Some people say they are for the protection but want wild corals / fish . I actually support some things they protect but when you look closer at things going on are they really got it all covered.
What’s the problem with our highly evolved species manipulating the environment around us for our enjoyment? Since we ascended from the ground we and every other species on the planet have been using the water, air, land, and sky however they can while each individual organism has a tiny impact upon the Universe itself.

We didn’t start this and we actually cannot stop it either. No agency or government of humanity is actually in charge.

Otherwise they would have cancelled the eclipse this morning, with “They” being the weather channel.

The Bible says that the sky was built for times and seasons. I think that is true.

Society only seems to value larger or cute animals. Vegans (I have no problem with this lifestyle) don't think about the effects of industrial farming or monocropping. In the grand scheme us as humans will always do more harm than good.

Even then, if the US as a whole went to net zero, it still wouldn't even make a dent on the world pollution as a whole.

Not to mention that “Net Zero” is a government project that sounds really wonderful, good, beneficial and nice but it is just a scheme to justify the built in costs of living on the earth.

It also works to eliminate poverty amongst the political class and the wealthy who live higher in their mansions while the masses live in poverty. See Al Gore flying his personal jet to the next climate summit for more great green energy ideas.

US Dollars are original green energy. They’re taking away the green with their scheme.

I am familiar on a personal level with the "net zero" thing. I work for an electric company in Michigan. Both Michigan and the company are working toward no coal by 2030-2032, and "net zero" by 2050. In the meantime, no new power plants are being built. I currently am at a coal plant, but will have to go back to the nuke I came from in order to make it to retirement in 20 years. The goal sounds great, but the means are lacking, imo.

I can not handle people that say they are all about protection of the sea and the environment but want there cake and eat it
Tell me how are we protecting anything when we really look closer at the subject
I don’t follow the rant. Could you clarify “but want their cake and eat it too” part.

Your rant seems too vague to even dispute. I am certainly willing to and do sacrifice as needed to make the world a livable place.

What exactly is getting you worked up?

I walk the walk and talk the talk. I don’t like cake anyway.

we in the uk knocked down all the coal power stations saying they were going green the carbon foot print . Everything was looking good in the country but then the war and then the government said it doesn’t have enough gas and electricity the prices went up triple what they were the government had too pay us money too afford the gas for everyone in the country what a joke depending on other country’s . Now Scotland are going big on wind power and England the same and they are building a big nuclear power plant which they said they would not do any . Everyone is too have a electric car by 2030 but they have just said not now till 2035 . This will not work there is no infrastructure for charging points out side everyone house and I think the cheapest electric car is 30 grand They should of used a synthetic petrol and that’s the problem solved the government is full of …. . And there’s people starving due to the cost of food which has tripled. We used to be called Great Britain know we are just Britain

If your point is that regulations are incomplete and can be enhanced and expanded, I agree. It is hard to do in a democracy where not everyone has the same values and ability to accept limitations on lifestyle.

Tough problems are just that: tough to solve. We (everyone) can only do what seems best. We will never make perfect decisions every time. But doing nothing is not much of a strategy.

Randy we are going to end up in one big mess in this hobby. A ban will come maybe not in my time but I can see it coming rip the **** out of something for so long and they will ban taking anything from any sea . Also after the ban you will only be aloud to buy captive bred fish corals and critters and it doesn’t matter what we all think they will ban everything that lives in the sea . Also over in the uk they are banning you from lifting pebbles from the coast lines if caught you go to court to get cash fine what a joke but fishing boats can destroy are fish and critters and rip up the sea bed . They can stick there rules were the sun doesn’t shine as far as I am concerned. The things going on in our seas and they don’t even blink but if you lift a Pebble you get done Come one the world is going mad . Then human waste in the sea and crop sprays nothing said too them . So Randy I don’t have faith in the protection agency’s make it up as they go along

keep ripping out wild coral collection and you now know what will come imo

So you think that someone saying they do not want to support wild coral collection should be banned?

It will never cease to amaze me how many so called "reef lovers" on this website seemingly hate any kind of environmental consideration.

Totally understand the OP on this one. I work for the government, well that phrase isn't exactly true as they are really just my employer. The difficulty with managing people is that there are so many opinions on what we all should do next and the wisest ideas are too smart for the average govt employee to grasp. So what happens, all too oftens is that the biggest loudmouth in the room usually gets their way because the vote is taken quickly so the meeting can end before lunch and everyone wants to eat, now.

I could write a book about it but I can't figure out a title that would sell, as not many want to read; "Hell on Earth Today."
