We went with the Panorama fixture because our tank is very shallow (12"). Our seriatopora, stylophora and pavona colonies should do ok in the top half of the tank with these lights. I don't believe that Acropora or any corals that require intense lighting would do well under this fixture.
We like the clean look of the fixture and it was easy to install. We don't like all the necessary wiring, transformers, separate inline dimmers and such. It is a bit annoying that the fixture comes standard with only 5 modules as it just does not produce enough light. We are running ours with 7, but are ordering 2 more pro modules (the max is 9 for the fixture) as we don't feel there is quite enough light.
LiveAquaria is now selling "select" Panorama fixtures for LPS, SPS, softies and fresh water. The LPS and SPS packages are both using 9 modules with a different mix of colors. Wish those packages had been available 2 months earlier, LOL!

I believe it was the CaribSea Arag Alive Indo Pacific black sand. It can potentially have some magnetic rock in it. We used a magnet to check ours before adding to tank and didn't notice any. To be safe though, we have placed a thin piece of Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (original) on the wet side magnet w/a rubberband to keep the glass from getting scratched.

Today we added a couple of Terelabrus Hogfish to the tank that had been on LA's Diver's Den for many months. They arrived very alert and in excellent condition. The larger of the two immediately burrowed into the sand bed where he hid for the remainder of the day, but the smaller one stayed out in the open, checking out the new surroundings, hunting for pods and eating mysis shrimp. We'll try to get some pics once they've settled into their new home as we don't want to spook them unnecessarily.
Interestingly, we have a little outbreak of Ulva macro algae. We grew this in our prop-tank refugium that is connected to the 300. Some spores must have made their way to the sump while the VidaRock sat in their for weeks to seed it w/good bacteria, LOL. It's easy to remove, just interesting that it hitched a ride. :bigsmile:
