How do you do it please tell us your secret.! If anyone has any questions dont be shy.
Yea smash it with a hammer. IMO I love them. oh wow the grow fal then sting thins and suck up mt calcium. Thats gotten boring to me. I have my pices kinda grafted and then cracked in places, i take out littl scallops in the edges and the croal grows in beautiful shapes, like miniatures of what you see a colony on the reef. Take a big pice to the LFS(they seem to like you) and trim a smaller one and grow it again. rinse repeat.Im very undecided whether i should trim my Hollywood Stunner
yea, they like you. rescue corals are the best and reserved for favored customers. bit o reefers code.Got a new Montipora and 2 Hammers for free from my LFS since they werent selling and fading away.
can you set the wb higher? if not look into an 85 or 85b filter(orange),set the iso at the highest before it gets grainy(what the camera is using now),set the camera to aperture priority, and use the aperture only. i try to give myself more stop(higher) for fish as the depth of field is greater(more depth) and its easier to get lucky. it also makes macros on corals , easier all you can then open the aperture and get a higher shutter speed and need a tripod less.Pro mode. 10k white balance. And ISO at 50. Everything else in auto.

Just running a small fluval skimmer. I think its a sp1 or something of that sort. Jebao powerhead and a maxijet 900 from time to time. As well as filter pads on the jebao if the glass is getting gunked up with coralline too quickly(having to scrape glass more than once a week suuuucks!) Urchin seems to be getting lazy so glass cleaning isn't his priority. Also have sponge everywhere. And ball anemones and spaghetti worms. And asterinas and mini brittle stars.Hey, so I had a beer. Explain your filtration to me again?
What happened to the baller shopping spree?Havent done anything to the tank in about a week now aside from feed, dose alkalinity and top up evaporation. Going to be doing water testing and possibly a small water change today. My Teardrop is on the move and messing with my Favias so going to attempt to move it today so long as it hasnt attached to anything. I also have to kill some majanos. As well as possibly putting my Adornatus into his in tank acclimation box. His fin is healing quick has almost all hos rays developing and had noticeable finnage now. Will post test results and pics later. Hope everyone is having a good 2017 so far!
I started holidays today so thats happening tuesday! We got a cpl feet of snow and ive been stuck at home since lol. But temp is up to -9C from -45C so perfect timing to go on a road trip. All my LFS has currently are an Eibli Angel and a Blue Fin Angel. So next closest store is 2 hour trip each way. I plan to spend at least 500 when i go to wpg on frags and wrasse. So fingers crossed itll work out nicely! What happened to the baller shopping spree?
Nice find! Internal parasites are typically easy to treat although in a tiny fish like that you never know.Stopped in at the LFS to see if the new shipment of dry goods had shown up. No dry goods but came with a baby Desjardini Tang. Im talkin half inch max. He seems to have internal parasites so got him for free. Gonna QT him in a 5g bucket for a cpl days then into a 15g to observe. Pics coming your way as soon as hes in my clear container.
Glad things are going well with him! The 2 things that I worry about that are very common in the supply chain right now are flukes and velvet. Depending on what you are using to treat the internal parasites with, that could also clear any fluke issues. Otherwise a simple fresh water dip in a dark container is a quick and easy way to check for flukes. For velvet, just watch his behavior. If it starts hiding more over the next week or two, or swims into a flow source, those are key indicators apart from the small white spots (similar to ich). Finally checked tank params.
Alk 9.2
Ca 440
Only things i checked since i only check everything else when things seem off.
Ive decided to bump up coral feedings since i havent seen any algae growth in the almost 6 months of the tank being setup and i kind of want to see the limits i can push. So will be feeding daily for the next couple of weeks and will test phosphates and nitrates on the weekend(if i remember/dont get lazy)
On a different note. I rarely QT fish since i never have room for new ones. But with this new sailfin anything i need to keep an eye on aside from ammonia @Brew12 ? I dont plan to use copper at all unless an external parasite shows up... And so far he has passed some nasty white poops this morning. But by this afternoon his turds are a nice brown and blow away in the flow so already looking good. Plus always wants food. And im terrible for being that guy so ive decided to give him nori daily plus a serving of flakes in the evening.
Thanks for the info! I. Currently using prazi pro which i believe works on flukes but bot velvet. No signs of ich. Surprisingly thats one thing my LFS has going for it. Any fish that make is this far have been thru stress and then some. I live in Canada and most of the LFS's stock comes from quality marine or out of florida(cant rememeber wholesaler name). And get laid over in Winnipeg at the companies warehouse before getting here. So most things are showing their ugly faces by the time i see any of the fish. Or they have died in transport at some point due to parasites and stress.Glad things are going well with him!
