Mp10 sounds like a 2 stroke

I know you said you moved it around but I really feel like that's noise mine make when they aren't lined up just right. When you were moving them around did you have the pump turned up or down? Sometimes you can find the sweet spot when the pump is turned down and then when it ramps up it starts making noise and needs to be repositioned.

If you remove the wet side, do you still have the 2 stroke sound?

I'm betting it's the dry side, and the bearing is shot.
If I remove the wet side there is only a hum, not really a noise

I tried both, maybe I was doing it incorrect.

I started moving clockwise which did nothing and I tried moving up and down right and left.

Ok then when you reassemble the wet side. Your making sure the little tabs are locked down in place? The propellar should slightly move up and down on the shaft but not come right off. You should have to unclip the 3 or 4 clips from the bottom of the cage to get the propeller off.

Yes I did it that way a couple of times now.

when i align i crank it to pretty much full power and grab onto the dry side with all fingers (and thumb :D) with just my fingertips slightly ahead of the dryside rubber plate, and very slowly wiggle it around the glass feeling for vibration.

once i find the spot i lower it fully onto the glass. the sweetspot is very small so tiny movements only.

I would email ecotech, or call them on the phone and let them hear it. If your still under warranty, they should mail you out a new wet side free of charge.

Even if they were slightly out of alignment, they should still not make that noise. I just drop my into the tank, never really "perfectly" placing them, and mine do not make that noise.

They will make that noise if they become uncoupled. For that I just turn the pump off, realign the wetside, then turn back on.

Alright I'm going to try it that way

are you in US?

*nevermind* netherlands.

they will prob ask you to send to distributor to check for a fee. i denied this fee and stated mine was under warranty.

Distributor ended up sending a new dryside to a LFS they dealt with and i picked it up free. they didn't even take the other one back, so i kept it for backup.

Do you know if they have support for Europe? I'll contact the seller (second hand) who bought the wet side.

What I think happens when they become uncoupled, the magnets aren't perfectly aligned to each other, and the propeller jumps up and down on the shaft instead of just spinning.

The remedy is just to trurn the pump off, realign, turn pump back on.

Im afraid so, thought to buy a cheaper MP10. If I need to buy a new wet side It's almost going to be more expensive than new.
yea, this reminded me of my 80$ power supply...

these things are so much more precision than i thought so second hand vortechs are probably not worth it...
