My clowns rotting?

I think I will take them back I don't want to add another fish just for it to be beaten to death by clowns...

I'm not sure when I should take them back because if I take them back now I can't put new fish in because I don't have a QT setup yet and not having fish in the tank will bring down the bio load. Or should I jsut toss new ones without QT. (I did that with my clowns didn't know what a QT was before hand)

You can take them back now if you'd like. ghost feed the tank a couple times a week to keep the bacteria levels up. Take your time and setup a proper QT for your next fish. Leaving the tank fallow wont hurt it.

I totally agree w/humblefish. I think you have a couple options:
1) get some egg crate from Home Depot or Lowes. Measure and cut it up w/a pair of wire cutters or something. Use it as a partition in your tank and keep the clowns on either side. That should keep them from annihilating ea other till you find out what to do w/them. When u get your QT tank, u can use it to shield the powerhead and heater from the qt'd fish.

2) Join a local reef club. I am part of WAMAS here in the nothern virginia area. There's a "want to buy/trade" thread where people post this kind of stuff every day. When I had an ich outbreak that wiped out all but one fish, I needed to get rid of it so I could run fallow for 72 days. I posted on the thread. With full disclosure about my ich issue, someone came over and got him that day! It costs me about 20 bucks a year for the club and I've gotten my money's worth many times over. Highly recommend it for advise, trading, getting corals, meeting fellow cool fish nerds!

3) Add way more hiding places - prob wont work, not many nice looking options since they wont be cycled rocks, etc.

No they don't I am a new reefer haven't even had my first coral yet. I was planning on getting coral and was looking at anemones but I don't think it would be good for my first coral. I was looking at toadstool. I have a recent thread on adding my first coral. But yea I was thinking that coral might make them a little more happy.
Take a shott what are you waiting forr !!

Thanks for the tips guy!! I am going to try and trade them in. Anyways so here is what I came back to today a chewed up caudal fin and looks like a worse pectoral fin.

Fish don't always die from injury, they can die from stress. In the ocean, the territorial fish attack and the victim swims away forever. That obviously can't happen in our closed environments. Imagine being in a cell with someone who likes to rip chunks off you. Save that poor little guy. I'm not trying to sound condescending but doing a little research planning of what is compatible can go a long way and save you lots of money. Plus it makes the hobby way cooler when it all works! I used to go into the store and pic up whatever looked cool and hope the sales guy was not lying about the compatibility. Today, u can just google the info in 10 seconds. If you do things correctly you'll have a tank that wows people when they see it. If you don't, you'll have a tank that woes you when you see it :)

Thanks, the little guy isn't going to die from injury. Also it's two clowns so they are compatible I understand I need to do my research and what not. I am going to trade them in or something. I care for them and I feel bad for the little guy. Nothing I could/can do about the aggressive clown it's just my luck.
