My recent ex went nuclear on my reef

Of all things to pour into tank....that's just weird.

I'd pour in bleach, windex, detergent...lots of things before the mouth wash, but I guess it was effective. Hopefully the corals pull through.

Who knows, maybe she invented some exotic new coral shock that'll trigger massive growth...and we'll all be pouring mouth wash in our tanks.

One fishtank owner said he poured beer in his tank (freshwater) I guess that also wipes the tank.

what is the tank volume and amount she poured? maybe the dilution effect will mitigate losses. sorry to hear man,

Happy holidays everyone. Its been awhile since ive updated here. But yesterday on my birthday of all day my girlfriend poured a bottle of listerine in my reef. Needless to say my oscelleris clown dead black and white clown dead pseudochromis dead and watchman goby dead. So after spending next 2 hours promptly removing her and her things from my house attention went to the tank. I drained every last drop of water after rinsing rock and everything i could. I refilled tank in hopes of saving any coral. My duncan corals frogspawn and some zoas have actually opened up. Im adding a hefty amount of carbon to try and soak up anything it can.

So sorry to hear she did this to your tank. I hope you are able to save some of your corals. Did all the fish die? I can't imagine how hurt you must feel. I wanted to evict a relative living with me but had to give him 30 day notice and go through the court to make it legal. He also tried to give our dog away but didn't. The police told me if he had given the dog away I would have had to file a civil law suit

If that's the reason, then my condolences, it's always horrible hearing stories like this. Someone around me had gasoline poured in his system. Heartbreaking, I hope you can save as much as possible.

These are front and side shots day 3 after what im now referring it is "The Incident" so far 3 nausuarius snails, 5 hermit crabs are still alive. Frogspawn and duncans are opening up more lil by lil. A few zoas are opening up. Had a lil rock with kenya tress, they metled and i removed. Mushrooms arent looking great but they dont quite look melted just shriveled up. I added ALOT of carbon to hopefully soak up some poisons. Any other ideas anyone has send them my way. Itll be appreciated.

That happened many years ago with my x wife. All my fish died, most of my corals made it after changing copious amounts of water x 3 days. I never figured out what she put inside, neither did she admit to it, despite many threats to do so previously. Well, been happily divorced 10 years with 3 great kids, and never ever getting married again![emoji4]

Oh i forgot to mention i bought a bottle of dr Tim's live nitrifying bacteria to jump start the bacteria. And the tank cleared exponentially in a day.

Heee and I felt bad having to go back to work! Best of luck buddy and remember, plenty of fish in the sea...figuratively speaking that is!
