I just got my custom tank and if I'm being honest I wouldn't go any other way again. But that's mostly because I love shallow tanks and the selection of stock shallow tanks is pretty darn slim.

There are some really good manufacturers out there that are reasonably priced or you can go all the way up to companies like Reef Savvy and pay a true premium, but with them the quality definitely matches the price point. There are also ways to cut down on the costs of custom tanks like keeping the height slightly lower in the 20-22" range or adding eurobracing, both of these options usually will allow for the use of a thinner glass which, especially in the case of starfire glass, really helps bring down the overall cost of the tank.

Yeah. I'll have to start looking into all of that soon. He told me that instead of being around 3k for a tank I'd be starting off closer to $10k. Which, I just don't want to spend that much on a tank alone.

Lol... I was actually out of the country. In the Netherlands and Belgium! ;smuggrin Was super fun and relaxing! I was so busy site seeing I barely had time to get online. Just the way a vacation should be!

I saw that the address changed. I thought about running over there. But then realized it was 6:30 and that they would be closed by the time I got there.

Now that doesn't seem scary. About the same or slightly higher is fine, but 3x the price just seems too bougie.

Good thanks. If you go to Nemo’s they gave out 10% of fliers before they moved, just mention you had one.

Yeah that's WAAAAYYYYYY off. A Reef Savvy 240 Tank with all the bells and whistles wouldn't even cost that much.... Most manufacturers you will probably be around the $3-4000 range for a custom 180 with all the extras and that's being generous. Now that would only be the tank and you would have to buy a stand and sump as well but all of that and your still way below 10k.

Lol I'll say this, it's not going to hurt to figure out what you would like for a tank size, or even a ballpark and ask a few manufacturers for some quotes to see where your price point will land. You might be surprised with what they come up with

I would think it needs to be at least 4-6+ feet wide to fit the space. What are standard/dood heights and depths for that length. See? I'm not even sure if there are standard sizes. I do know I don't want to be scuba diving in the tank.

Different time of day perhaps? The white light was also on. I think that helped.

I normally take pictures of the tank at night. I've never had the reflection be as bad as it was the other morning. I have to imagine it was that blasted sun streaming through the windows causing the problem.

The bottom left was when the peppermint shrimp were in and the bottom right is before the peppermint shrimp made it mad. Is there a reason why the green center has faded?
