Online vendor Acro frags are sure getting pricey$$$$$$$$$$

Yea they hook you up with what you ordered , something overpriced . I've seen them sell a green slimer for $60 an ora birds of paradise for 60 that was barely 2 branches . Dont get me wrong they have amazing stuff but when you see corals like that with that price tag , you already know a nice acro is going to be double . To the people that make the car reference, if you buy a Lexus from a dealer 25 miles away from each other , there might be a slight difference in price , but in the end it's the same Lexus. I think that's what a lot of people have a problem with . The big vendors pretend, (but also some buyers) that ora coral is somehow better from their farm than the one down the road .

We have to look and think about the pricing logically. You are overpaying easily 10x's for some corals... some far more. So they toss in a 'free' coral that cost them what $5 at most.

Don't get me wrong, free things are awesome, but you are most definitely paying for that free frag many times over.

Exactly. this is a living animal that is just growing and they are cutting. They are not creating the product just growing it. I will pay a premium for products that deserve it. Like I have spent 10's of thousands of dollars over the years on camera gear. But that is getting something that was built and is a premium product and glass is not cheap to make for optics. I only buy frags at my LFS and am fine with them. I dont need to spend a stupid amount on something that looks amazing one day and the next day it could be dead or some reason decided to get ticked off and change its color to crap. WWC and the likes love the mentality of others who think they are some elite club and make them feel special by laughing with look we sold this 3/4" frag for what we paid for this whole colony throw in that frag that broke off and make them think we care.

Ya exactly. He makes zero sense, but when he posts a picture of that above frag in his system I'm sure we will all be blinded by the vibrancy of its color lol.

MOST people will pay a premium when your getting something of premium value. I pay a premium for my Red Dragon and Tunze equipment because I can justify the price with the quality, reliability and longevity of their products.

To say your tank is better or your corals are better/nicer simply because your have been named by a store and you paid more for them is saying you simply are poor with your hard earned money.

Nobody here is being negative. Its an open discussion on the pricing increases over the last few years which most of us see as unwarranted. Nobody is saying you can't spend your money how you wish - by all means do what you like.

You are the one saying the rest of us are cheap because we see paying $1,500 for an enhanced 3/4" frag a waste of money. Again, that's our perspective but by all means spend away.

I used to say I will not paying for JF Homewrecker, vivid confetti and cb malificent price tag from vendor.
When I see this 3 corals in person and I got to have it in my tank.
I was reluctant but end up paying 600 shipped for all 3 corals from online reefer.
It always cheaper if you can buy online reefer on r2r.

wow, you pretty much have no clue.
No such thing as a "premium coral" its a living thing and will grow how it wants. I look at it the same way with other animal breeders. They can all jump in a lake trying to charge thousands of dollars for a dog. Plenty of them want homes in shelters that are just as good.

If the Indo ban stays in effect just wait and you will really see prices go up. LPS corals are already rising at wholesale pretty soon they will be tripled in price. Back in the beginning of SPS keeping I would get full 8 inch coral heads for 50 bucks now its a nub for 300 bucks. Eventually the saltwater hobby will reach a point where the hobby will be pricing itself out of existence to the vast majority of hobbyist. New people coming into the hobby will just dry up and that will be that.

Again you aren't following the concept of this thread.

When you buy a Canon EOS C700 you are paying $30,000 for the absolute best of the best camera. You are paying for a product that has the best parts, service and can perform in a manner which an Iphone simply cannot. You pay for what you get but when you buy the camera, you physically get that exact product in your hands. It hasn't been altered, modified or enhanced.

Have you honestly ever looked at another fellow reefers SPS non-enhanced photos and been blown away? I can count maybe a handful of times I have been truely taken back by a non-enhanced rellow reefers SPS even in person. That's not to say I don't think their tanks are awe worthy, but now go on most vendor sites and 99% of their SPS will blow you away. You spend your money how you like good sir, but there is a difference between wasting your money and buying something of truly premium value.

You are paying a premium price for something that is not of premium value, but again, you spend your money how you like.
