I don't like online sales as much as I don't trust over saturated alien neon coral pictures. I rather take my time and research and personally view it myself rather than purchasing it blindly online. Used to but not anymore jumping on the designer named corals bandwagon although on rare occasions I'd splash on really hard to find corals. It's knowing how much one can afford buying/paying or is it because everyone had to get the "Must have Flavor" of the moment? ;) . Bragging rights ... nah I don't care for that.

Buy a Camera straight out is nuts. I have worked with many professional photogs and They many own one camera but when they are bidding on a job they just rental the body's and lenses.

I do it my self anymore way cheaper and I always have the best new gear to play with .:)

LOL I used the camera purchase as an analogy, I'm not a professional photographer so I don't actually own that Canon.... it sounds fantastic though? haha

They are totally ripping people off. My family runs a business and I understand you have to up the price to make revenue, but at the same time we don't up charge 500% of what it cost to produce. Yes there are good coral retailers that do not do this, but I hate to say it most online retailers with the big names do. The name of the product is what cost you the money...... Just like others said its just a coral (worth $25) that with the name cost you $95 - $150 a frag. I've also noticed that they don't even sell standard corals online anymore, its all "designer"

I have always hated that name branded coral crap. Even from way back in the day. I couldnt stand the BS markup for corals that just had the name Tyree on them and its still same today just ALOT more of it.

look at tidal gardens. They dont have as much stuff but I see alot of good things and some things that are on WWC site as well. with rainbow monties and majority of their stuff is $45 and under. Probably get 10 really nice corals tehre for the price of maybe 1 or 2 grossly over inflated priced ones at WWC.
Me and my buddy joked about the BRS giveaway tank and the $5000 WWC credit would get you like 4-5 frags

Well gentlemen no hard feelings good talking to you guys seriously. I dont like negativity and definitely dont want to start any. We all have opinions :)
You gotta ignore the negativity. People are gonna disagree and hate when your opinion differs. Buy what you like and enjoy your tank, that coral you posted was nice BTW

https://worldwidecorals.com/collections/acropora/products/green-slimer-acropora sorry, super toxic, nuclear green, radioactive, swamp thing look alike, greener pastures, green diamond(lol) ,

I left the vendor name out of this because its not about bashing anyone... but I mean this is sort of what we are talking about.

Have you actually ever been to world wide corals? If not you should visit, it might make your opinion change a bit.

This thread cracks me up! Prices have always been high for years. Most of you seem to be new im guessing. All the cheap frags now used to be well over 200 when they first came out probably just saying . I pay top price because its gonna be nice. Just like a car or any other hobby. You can go the cheap route or go the expensive way. Not everything is for everyone unless you wanna spend :) i love high end rare stuff most dont have. I'll pay for it and i sure aint rich

Oh yes I remember waiting on the list for the Tyree stuff and spent plenty on pink lemonade and the setosa way way way back.

Most expensive coolers I ever bought.

what the heck would visiting them make me all of a sudden go OMG. let me spend 2-300 per 3/4" frag
We go to Disney alot and its right up the road and I have zero interest to step foot in there. I would just get annoyed in person on their price gouging BS with their fancy little made up names. Unless their in store prices for the same frag are only $35 then no thank you.

Probably guessing wrong then. But that doesn't really matter. A free market is just that sellers will post a price and buyers will either buy or not. You may fall into the buy camp while I don't. No worry - let us share some egg nog and break some bread. However there is a bit of reality and truth behind the cheap vs. expensive way although it isn't related to corals (it is related to a hobby though).

I'm an active scuba diver in the colder waters of Northern California. Diving conditions are more harsh than say tropical weather so if I go to say Lake Tahoe and do a dive I'm in water reaching 45 degrees Fahrenheit. If I am in deeper waters say in Monterey again I'm pushing 48 - 54 degrees Fahrenheit. I've seen people diving with warm water regulators only to have them freeze up at depth and do an emergency accent so they don't die. So in your case cheap or expensive there is value in that statement with some things. Be it diving in cold vs tropical weather and life support equipment or say even tires. I saw a lad in his GT350 plow over a center divide missing on-coming traffic into a tree in light wet weather because he had his track run cup 2 tires on it...rather than buy a 2nd set of rims for daily driving (cheap part).

So I hear what you are saying. Cheap isn't really the case here but I'd agree with you on boutique corals.

The vendor name is watermarked in the picture.

Well it is what it is I suppose. I didn't want to copy and paste their link, but realistically they posted those corals for sale at those prices so they should be willing to allow people to see what they are selling and for how much.

First off, no need to be rude and I've noticed a pattern with members just trying to have s conversation with you. You are bashing a company you know nothing about and it's sad. My question was simply to say they have a wide selection of affordable corals so don't judge a company by online sales. Since it appears you have trouble communicating I won't respond to your comments any longer. No need to be rude when we are all just trying to voice our own opinions and communicate in a friendly atmosphere.

No worries, I actually said nothing about his opinion and I respect others opinions but he didn't notice it's the communication and being rude that I have no time for. I just asked if he had ever been there and maybe have an open mind and not attacking his opinion at all but I digress. There's ignore buttons for a reason.
