Purple tank lateral line disease

Thank you very much! Will keep working on it and I will order the bacteria today. It’s been a roller coaster since dec 1. We bought this tank to give the fish more room and hopefully longer happier lives and all we did was mesh up all the fish! :( thank you very much for your help. We will keep trying to get it right. It was so much easier when upgraded the reef.
I would also recommend adding Selcon, Zoecon, and Vita Chem (all three) in those foods. I swear part of my success if the copious amount of vitamins I add to the food.

Thank you! Will get those too since I’ll be placing another order anyway. My poor Sohal keeps getting worse. Looks like pimples then they pop leaving large holes in her flesh. She is still active and eating. Copper is on the way out. Was .22 today and nitrite and ammonia negative. The highest ammonia and nitrate we saw in tank with daily checks was never above the first and sometimes we didn’t really think there was any, but the nitrite color was a darker blue than it was suppose to be and ammonia not yellow but not yet the first green color either. We treated the tank like both were positive since none of either is good. Thanks again for your help! I really appreciate all you guys on here. I need to stop stealing thread posts, I’m to OP for that. But thank you all.

Just another anecdote to add to the conversation/confusion.

120G display + 20G sump. SPS dominant and corals are prospering as are all but 2 fish of the fourteen total: 3" hippo (6 yrs old) and 2.5" yellow tang. My 3" purple tang is spotless. All eat well, but the yellow and hippo look like s**t for the last 6 months. You would swear they were dying of HLLE. Just gruesome. Checked voltage -- nada. Carbon reduced to 4 hrs gentle per day. All three tangs passed the ich phase a year ago (after tank change) no problem.

After 6 months of this, I finally take my Hippo (oldest fish I have) to my LFS and drop her in the 100G frag tank alone. After 2 weeks it is a freakin miracle. Full color and diminishing hole in head. Fins coming back.

I repeat: these fish never acted sick; they just looked horrible. The yellow remains in the DT with mohawk fins and looking bad. Thinking of moving her too.

My best guess: tang competition for space and food which the purple tang won over time. This theory would lend much credence to the tang police philosophy. I love tangs; guess I need a bigger tank. Anybody agree?

I bought a Purple Tang with huge HLLE a month ago from Big Al. It was listed for 290$ and I got it for 200$ lol I was just so sorry for him as he looked terrible:(
He is in quarantine all this time with 3,4 times feedings a day. I give him everything: 3 types of Sprung nori, PE mysis, 30$ pellets with spirulina, krill, cyclopezze, ring grazer and few more things. I see little improvement but just on the color, skin is shiny and plump, very active fish. He also have ich from beginning so I add Seachem copper as well and Ich disappeared now for 1 week. Some people say he will be like that forever... We see... I named him Scar Face LOL... The other yellow tang I bought with HLLE too  I want to help them as well as challenge myself. Look at the picture from 3 weeks ago;Vamp

Awe. I hope they get better. They probably will once in the DT. Good luck. Keep us posted! So glad you saved them!
